6. The pear grew inside the bottle. The bottles are
placed over pear buds when they are small, and are
wired in place on the tree. The bottle is left in
place for the whole growing season. When the pears are
ripe, they are snipped off at the stems.

Defensive interference. Like when a pitcher comes over and interferes or impedes the runner from going to 1st base.

3. Isn't an artichoke a vegetable?

6. Jack...if you put a pear seed in a bottle and let it grow you would have a pear tree. NOT a pear! lol They hang bottles on the branches of trees with the small developing pears placed inside the bottles. This is done right after the pear tree blooms and once it is certain that a pear is developing. Once the pear is ripe the bottle is removed from the tree branch, the stem is cut off ( how do they do that?) and then the bottle is filled with brandy.
