Starting ILB Fred Pagac Jr, suspended for Wisconsin game after being arrested at 3:15 am fighting on High Street in Columbus. This guy must be a real a beauty, the cops were going to let him go, but he would not stop fighting so they slapped on a persistent charge on the disorderly conduct. Tressel said he was going to clean up the zoo when he took over the Buckeyes, but it looks like it still a bunch of thugs in Cbus. this is the ninth guy popped by the cops since Tressel took over the program.

Thegridiron - Having gone to school in Ohio, at Miami, I know that there are many people like you who are Buckeye-haters and live to see the program disgraced. Your statement is true that 9 players have been suspended in the last 18 months but in that time frame what number can be linked to Tressel? I'll answer for you: one. Quinn Pitcock was arrested while at a house party in his hometown with 20 other 18 year-olds who were charged with under-age drinking. Not exactly the "thugs" which you descibe in your statement is it? I also find it funny that someone living in Ohio can use the words "thugs" and "zoo" describing a city other than Cincy. Not only the graduation rate but also the GPA of those "players" in Cincy show everything that is wrong with college basketball. Tressel has promised to clean up the program and I don't think that anything in his words or actions have shown otherwise so far. He has repremanded those who have broken team rules unlike coaches in the past, as well as managing to keep the team focused and motivated throughout the season. Although some players who have been here far longer than their coach have used poor judgement not everything should fall on the head coach for fault. Let's wait and see how these first two freshman classes perform on and off the field before you pass judgement.

I agree with the point that OSU athletes (football) have definitly led the nation in the past two years with arrest, possibly Nebraska may be ahead of them, but I disagree calling out Tressel. Alot of these guys were allready there when Woody Cooper was HC, so the problems allready existed. The only negative I have seen from Tressel is that he did not discipline Clarett during the OSU-NW game for bereting Running Backs coach Tim Spencer. He should of sat Clarett for a series, but I give Tressel the benefit of the doubt, he said that he never saw the confrontation.

Ohio State freshman on the football team have the highest GPA in the Big 10 this year at 3.2. So, while the actions of a few cannot speak for the whole, Tressel's recruits are getting the job done in the classroom and on the field.

I wonder what classes these great Buckeye "minds" are taking....weight training 101, 102, 103. Maybe Clarett can take a class in overcoming his fear of flying. Looks like he's going to have to get on a plane this weekend. He didn't exactly light up Northwestern's porous run D after his other plane trip.

Kidd's Korner - Valuist's post is the main reason that I didn't mention OSU's GPA this year. While you are correct about this freshman team and their grades, people will be quick to stigmatize these players of modeling themselves after players like Katzenmoyer. No can say if they are indeed taking classes more challenging than the Volleyball, Basket Weaving and Film Studies courses that OSU players have enrolled in the past. The point should be that regardless of the material they are doing their work and getting the grades, which in the long run is far more important than football. OSU-haters, which seem to be far and wide, will always have a reason to tell you what the team is doing wrong instead of what they are doing right. Consquently these will also be the same people who complain that it is too bright and/or sunny on a perfectly clear summer day...

Correct me if I am wrong. I believe Ohio State beat Northwestern. Did Clarett score in that game? I believe he did score. In fact, I believe he scored more than once. Come to think of it, Mr Clarett leads the COUNTRY in scoring this year. By the way, Maurice Clarett graduated from high school early so he could enroll at Oho State in December to be eligible for Spring Practice. Takes a little more than basket-weaving to do that. Go pick on the Univ of Cincy, Miami, Fla, Univ of Michigan or some other THUG school that can't graduate ANYONE. Fact: Bob Huggins has never had ANY of his players graduate. None. Zippo. Nada. Zilch.

Kidds Corner, no need to correct you yes OSU did beat NW, but so did TCU, so big deal. This week will give a us a better gauge of Ohio State, it has been hard to gauge the team due to their weak schedule and I know OSU fans will say we played Wash State, well that was at home and WSU was minus 2 starting linebackers. After watching the last two OSU road games it is quite obvious that they are going to struggle with good passing teams on the road. NW exposed them with the quick slant, OSU couldnt stop it all down, NW was in the red zone numerous times but lacked the horses to bang it in. Cinci completely outplayed OSU in all aspects of the game and if the receiver holds onto the ball on their last drive then more than likely the BEarcats win that game. A team that is under the radar that is better than OSU is North Carolina State, I have watched both teams play and NCState has a much better offense than the Buckeyes, they have a nice freshman running back also. On a neutral field OSU loses to the majority of the top 15: Miami, FSU, Okie, Texas, Va Tech, NC State, LSU, Georgia, Kansas State and at least 2 teams in the Pac 10 would beat OSU. The Big Ten has not been one of the Top 2 conferences for the past three years and I am so tired of the myopic Big Ten fans clamoring we play in the toughest conference top to bottom, actually you play in the 4th best conference top to bottom in the country and thats the same as it was last year. Tressel may not of recruited the troublemakers but he is the warden so he does receive some of the blame for the conduct.

Thegridiron - I wasn't going to reply but you shot yourself in the foot by saying that NC St. is better than OSU and OSU can't be gauged because of it's weak schedule... You are right... New Mexico, East Tenn St., Navy, almost losing to Texas Tech (a team OSU handled 45-21 vs. the 51-48 Wolfpack win) and UMass are FAR better gauges that NCSt. is the superior team. Your arguement that OSU would lose to a Top-15 team is humorous considering you list NCSt. in that mix and there is nothing to show that they would fare any better. Who knows the result of such games as only a playoff sysytem would allow that to occur. Granted OSU has struggled with their pass defense all year but you can't say that NCSt. defense is any better or even on par with the Buckeyes. The front four combined with OSU's Butkus semi-finalist Wilhelm makes them the pick without discussion. As for your crying over the myopic Big Ten fans, once again you bring up points and topics that are unrelated to your original arguement. No where on this thread has anyone mentioned the Big Ten being the best conference or challenging that fact. Finally at the end of your rambling you try to come full circle mentioning Tressel and attempting to link that with your original post. You could've saved yourself the embarrasment of ommiting 3/4 of your previous write-up, making that statement and moving on. Why not let the games play themselves out and see what happens...

OSU beat Texas Tech at home, no chance they would have the same performance at Texas Tech and if I recall NC State played Tech on the road. I don't recall saying that NC State played a tough schedule so far, but I still feel that on a neutral field NC State would beat OSU. The Wolfpack has been flying under the national radar all year, they are not getting the same respect as OSU or even Air Force. About Tressel, so your saying since he didn't recruit these players to OSU he is not responsible for their behavior? That is absolutely insane, he is the leader and he is responsible for the actions of his team, you are sounding like a Nebraska fan trying to explain why Husker players are always in trouble with the law.
