Don't know a whoel lot about these guys.

I did notice that Manfredy lost to a southpaw (Stevie Johnson) in a decision before, and Spadafora fights SP. Two of Manfredy's other losses were to Corrales and Floyd Mayweather, so he's fought some tough competition. Spadafora has had tougher competition recently.

They both seem to go the distance a lot and Spadafora has had more clear-cut decisions (his last 4 were UD's). I'd like to see spadafora closer to -200, but right now neither of the books I use even has a line on the fight.

Don't know much about Marquez-Peden. I don't think Peden has fought anybody. I notice Marquez has a remarkable number of knockouts for a featherweight.

Tend to prefer the Mexican fighting the Australian, too (much better amateur competition, or so the story goes), so maybe a little on the fave in this one, too.

tonight`s card

tonight`s card

agree with shrimp...not a big spadafora fan...more a lean against manfredy...manfredy made his bones vs overrated ivan robinson and mismanaged arturo gatti(gatti now boxing more-less of a face fighter)......don`t think spadafora has ever fought outside of home town pittsburgh..one of the most protected champs out there..manfredy would have to kill him to get a decision....also manfredy is over the hill...spadafora by decision....also picking marquez over peden in a rough physical fight...both are tough guys but marquez is a heavier puncher and is relentless....peden is tough also, but lost a decision to diminutive john brown in a tough street brawl(marquez would be way to physical for brown)..... recap-spadafora in a decision(can`t lose in pittsburgh unless his lifeless body can`t be propped up by his trainer-he really is is a bogus champion))....and marquez via late round tko or unanimous decision in an exciting fight that has much better fighters than the main event.good luck.also please see my comments on the celebrity boxing matches on fox in shrimp`s thread.

henderson,nv.
it was easy money though, like you said the first fight was the best and we knew it would be, the pittsburgh kid can box and does it well but doesnot have the power to go with the top couple in that class and with his height he won't even be able to stay in that wt class when he gets alittle older.so he will have to be able to ko someone, like i said as a boxer he is very good,as a fighter he is in trouble and you have to be able to do both/

there are sometimes you need the ko,you can't out point everyone,if you cut in mid rounds you better be able to ko someone or you will be tko'ed if its bad and you are a point fighter. i am a power type guy i want to see good crisp punches with power,he has the sharpness but not the sting. so that is why he is in a rutt know, mayweater would hurt him. not ready for those guys and he may never be.

fletch,your right

fletch,your right

my criticizm of spadafora was a little harsh...he is what he is and he tries hard...manfredy(on the other hand)may be washed up...he used to be a capable fighter...look forward to some give and take on some big upcoming fights(barrera-morales,delahoya-vargas etc)....good luck handicapping the dance...hope to see a few posts.

Spaddy fight was a little interesting.

He changes range a lot and avoids getting hit hard. He moves his head well.

ON the other hand, angel didn't move his head at all. Spaddy was able to get through his defense. He was definitely out of rhythm, but he did try taking the fight to spaddy.

I had it scored 115-113. I had my first two rounds reversed from Lederman's card (both were close, and I gae th 2nd to manfredy mainly because i gave the first to Spad.) I gave the 12th to Manfredy, too, but Lederman gave it to Spad. I didn't like seeing him run like that.

Mayweather is in another class than this guy, but if spad get him Floyd to fight his "amateur style" fight, maybe he can keep it close. I don't think Mayweather will miss as much as Manfredy did.

Had a little on Spad, but doubled it after reading Flether's post. Thanks Fletch.

lederman

lederman

lederman really is a joke...a guy is winning a fight handily, then the other guy has a little better round(even though he still easily loses the round)and lederman gives him the round.....emanuel stewart had some intelligent things to say,but lederman is part of what`s wrong with boxing...and "punch-stat" sucks...the punches manfredy was landing were mostly little arm pitty pat punches...manfredy has hit the wall...and although spadafora is an honest effort guy,he is one weak champion...if manfredy was his step-up fight,i`d hate to see the other 34 stiffs....here`s to better bettable future fights.waiting for the day when "spaddy"fights a stevie johnston, diego corrales or(god forbid for him)maywether.good luck...
