So. Cal
from a bookie who's way past due (9 months)?

background:

been using a guy for 15+ years....never a problem paying/collecting and been out of state last 10+ years.

hit big last sep/oct and paid in full

continued hot streak into nov and stopped taking action mid nov...said he had family/job issues and couldn't be bookie any longer and needed time/patience to pay...but agreed to let pending nfl futures play out (win totals, bowl, etc)

won a few (balt afc/sb) and he made one payment in feb (18%) but nothing since....and has gone dark for 4 months.

email, sms, voice mails, and finally a letter to his office requesting payment, man-up,etc hasn't generated a response.

obviously it's harder since he's across country but any "suggestions" on other "methods" or ways to "sell the debt" or find someone to "collect" would be appreciated?

fwiw...i'm in sd, he's in mia

if you need to email me, feel free to get my email from jack (who I assume has it)

You have been stiffed :0008

No offense......You kind of set yourself up for this being that far away and when a bookie starts double talking it is time to :mj23:

Best thing you can do son is write it off before you find some nut that tells you he can collect and you end spending an ass load of money trying to get out of an ass load of trouble that nut gets you in.....just my opinion and you know how opinions work.

How much we talking about?

Fuk I guess you could go to Miami and talk to him.

Fuk just call him every hour. You have a friend who is in law inforcement? Maybe have him call from his work place so the ID will show Boise Police Station calling.

you gotta be crazy to get law enforcement involved to collect

it's like calling the police to tell them that someone stole your coke

Maybe cut your losses and offer him a discount off. If not, just ask him for smaller payments over time.

answers to a few questions:

18k

not calling police

not paying someone I don't know in advance but not sure how I trust someone I don't know to collect that much and then pay me

figured since he paid 4k in feb he'd continue to pay over time....its been 6 months and no payment and 4+ months since contact

GJN,

This fucking sucks. Been stiffed before but not for $18k. You will find him unless he's dead as it's impossible in 2013 to disappear so hang in there and hope the fucker is making some money.

Every time you call him from a Cali number hes not going to answer when he sees that Cali number on his ID. If you have a friend n Florida that can make a call to him just to see if he will answer. Maybe find where he works and call him there.

I think the saying that applies here is "you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip". It's probably applicable here, bc I bet this guy is tapped out.

Sure is a helluva lot of money though!
