i'm driving west on route 70 at about 75 mph. 2 trucks are side by side blocking the way around. finally, the truck in the passing lane moves up some and now i'm riding next to the other truck. all of a sudden, this truck next to me starts changing over to MY lane. i honk and start moving over to avoid hitting him. he keeps coming, i keep moving over. finally, nothing left to do but move onto the median. so, i go bouncing down the median at about 70, and i mean bouncing. luckily, i didn't flip my car and gradually got back on the road and raced up to catch the asshole. i pull up next to him again and look him right in the eye. he's laughing at me. i motion for him to pull over and he smiles and looks away. i guess my car is ok. i might need a front-end alignment but do i have any recourse here? this guy could have killed me, my wife, my 14 year old son and my little dog. i got his tag number from the trailer, the trailer number, the cab tag, the cab number, the name of the trucking company and everything else written on the truck. what should i do? this guy needs to be disciplined somehow.

What an asshole! I hope you get the bastard. I hate when they try to roughh people up thinking they're so powerful because they're in a big truck.

Oh that just pisses me off!

MJ, you can report him to the safety officer at his trucking company. Since you have the name of his company and the other pertinent info, they will be forced to deal with this. Each trucking company is required to have someone designated as their safety officer by the federal government and there are procedures in how they must handle your complaint. If you don't get any satisfaction there, then you can promote your complaint to the DOT (Dept of Transportation). I can assure you that NO trucking company wants the DOT crawling around their business.

(My largest client is a trucking company with 300 company drivers, 200 company owned trucks. They deal with this sh*t all the time and the drivers are given a written reprimand, then terminated if it happens again.)

JUST DO IT JACK!!! BLOW HIM IN! i manage truck driver's along w/ warehouse am very surprised at this.99% of your truck driver's are very courteous on the open road as well as locally. it's just ashame you had to run into that 1%. call up his company and tell his boss what happened. is it a nationawide company?? what was the name of company, i'd sure like to know, our building gets about anywhere from 15 -20 truck's a day coming in and out for p/u's or deeliveries.

Jack,

Im from that industry and depending on what company it was complaintgs are dealt with differently. Call d.o.t. and the company both. Laughing at you is ludicrous and should be made complaint of as a form of roadrage. Accidents happen but a guy laughing at you? Let me tell ya, when I F up I kiss some asses even if the guy is mad. My company would consider canning an ass over that.

Post the number here Jack, and let about 6-7 different people call them and complain about his driving. I'd be more than happy to make up a story and call them as well. I do need to know the area and the day he was driving. I'd say after about the 4th or 5th phone call, he'll get his walking papers...

Jack call Dot in your home state when you get back home to. Get the name of the Dot person you talk to in Missu. Give that name to your own state guy. Tell them you want info on how this was handled. This adds a little presure to see it gets attention. When you ask for the persons name your talking to in Missu they should get the idea.

Unfortunately, I just don't think Jack's lone complaint will get much accomplished. I'm certain the asshole has done this before, but I doubt they went to the same lengths as Jack is taking. NOW, if ya had about 4, 5, or 6 call, then I think you might see some justification. Different stories at different times. That should fix the sob..

I'll call tomorrow afternoon and tell them I witnessed the whole thing a couple cars back. Either that, or I'll make up an entirely different story with different area and times. That should cook his goose!

Sumthin' along these lines???

VIA FACSIMILE
RBX Transportation, Inc.
Springfield, MO

To whom it may concern:

On Monday, July 23rd my wife and three children were traveling West on Route 70 to visit an ailing Uncle that resided in Terre Haute, IN. While proceeding East on 70, We followed one of your trucks for nearly 25 miles. Upon trying to pass the slower moving truck in the left-hand lane, he would begin to swerve in the left-hand lane nearly killing me and my four family members. I quickly slammed on my brakes and glanced in my rear view mirror. Not only were we almost killed, but he almost caused another two accidents directly behind me.

I foolishly gave him the benefit of the doubt, and tried to convince my family that he simply did not see us due to those dreaded blind spots we all have in our side view mirrors. After the ringing from the screams subsided in my ears, I once again attempted to pass the truck in the left hand lane. This was mistake # 2! Your driver violently swerved to the left while we were in the passing lane nearly running me off into the median and into opposing traffic.

After the 2nd such occurrence, I began to follow your driver and truck down the interstate to obtain information. He had Oklahoma plates that read #966-8CZ with a trailer # of 5069.

For the safety of the public, I truly hope and pray you will give this matter the attention it deserves. It would be a terrible set of events if this matter were not attended to, and your employee happened to kill some innocent people.

I will be in touch in the next few weeks to see what sort of recourse was taken with this gentleman who apparently has no regard for human life.

Sincerely,

John Bingham
