I was having trouble with explorer 11 doing what you mentioned so I went back to explorer 10 and no more trouble.

I was thinking the same thing....I need to find a way to keep explorer from automatically updating to 11 again ....going to check around...

thanks for the reply...

Another member yesterday was having problems and we were able to get them resolved

he was on firefox

Flash player
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Select your operating system and then below select your browser then click download now

It's also time to move over to Chrome or at least have it installed, that way you have a choice when you run in to problems like this.

Chrome

thanks,bud...i`m pretty sure that 11 will show up again at some point(there are patches to block it but i`m not going that far)...i found something on the net that supposedly showed me how to disable the adobe flash player.....all theoretical until 11 shows back up....

as far as having 2 browsers....will my antivirus automatically service both?....since switching back to ie 8 i`ve already happened across one site that won`t accept it as a browser....

i`m in awe of you computer geniuses.....:toast:

Yes - and probably better than ie because chrome was an open sourced browser meaning that the writers of the antivirus software will know exactly how chrome operates.

What antivirus do you run?

mcafee...i know many dislike it but i had lousy luck with norton.....

now i`m having trouble downloading explorer 11(i had forgotten 8`s issues) :142smilie...

maybe i`ll just try chrome like you suggested.....

i`ll hack through it.....

appreciate the help...

Mcafee has it's good and bad just like norton and every other antivirus out there.

They have done a better job of making the program less labor intensive so machines don't bog down as much as they used to. It also helps that RAM capabilities have skyrocketed over the last 7 years.

Chrome is pretty easy - Here's the download link. Having more than 1 browser won't cause problems and I'm sure that Chrome will give you the opportunity to copy over any bookmarks you might have in IE.

I was able to retrieve ie 11 via restore point....and I was able to re-download adobe flashplayer...the adobe came with chrome but I still have ie as my default browser...chrome is on my taskbar but isn`t working....

do I need to change my default browser to chrome for it to function?...or is there a setting that needs to be adjusted?......

even if you aren`t sure what I`m babbling on about(lol),thanks for the help....you`re a credit to your race, sex the mj`s community at large(and if none of the prior labels apply, you`re still one of the finer fluid entities I`ve stumbled across).....

No - Chrome does not need to be your default browser to work. It should be located in the
PHP:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"
area of your program files.

I would reboot 1st and then try the chrome shortcut again. You can also go to the start button and start typing chrome and the chrome icon should pop up under programs where you can just click it to launch.

well,well,well........a little embarrassed...all i needed was the reboot...was easy to tranfer all our ie faves over to chrome....seems a good deal faster and much less "hinky"....

hard to believe we`ve been going without the extra option for so long(i`m not the only one here who is a bit tickled with the new toy)...a brand new world......

very kind of you to take the time,josh......:142hail:

You prepaid with your mma insight

Now you have options - I still have to use IE for a payroll processing website who only caters to IE.

I use Chrome as my default but I do have IE, Firefox and Opera installed for testing purposes. You will find some good things with Chrome and some frustrating things with Chrome. If yelp has taught us one thing, it is that no product is 100% infallible.

Glad it worked out.
