f-cking very odd...last several nights just lay in bed staring the the focking ceiling....

get the urge to sleep at odd times(like when i`m working),but when it comes to the normal schedule(no matter how tired i feel) and it`s time to hit the rack,my eyelids might as well be glued to my forehead....

blood preessure`s consistently lower than 120/80(the lower number never gets much above 78...the higher seldom if ever above 125)....

finishing an exercise routine is a little more difficult... i`m not exhausted,though(yet)....

here i am at 4:30 a.m. sitting at the keyboard...been up for an hour and a half...

the old lady had a 5 mg valium( generic "diazepam")and i took half...got a little drowsy but didn`t actually sleep.....maybe in fits and spurts...

used to read constantly at bedtime but haven`t for the last few months...guess i`ll give that a shot....

driving everyone nuts..including myself....

anybody ever go through this?...

thanks...

started to happen to me about 6 months ago.

After 2 months of feeling lethargic I went to the Dr and he prescribed me Ambien. I only take it on Sundays, Mondays and Wedensdays and sleep great. I am a very light sleeper and the nights I don't take it (like last night) I sleep like shit. Cats walking around, wind howling, bolier kicking on and pipes crackling it all wakes me up. I look forward to the nights I take it cuz it's a straight 7-8 hour sleep and wake up with no hangover or grogginess...

It's possiby addicitng so i keep tothe 3 nights a week deal and so far it's worked...I started on the Ambien CR (6.25mg), and it didn't have enough kick. It's supposed to be a time release but switched to the 10mg generic version in Dc and within 40 minutes of taking it I feel sleepy and head off to bed and wake up normal and refreshed. Just DON"T drive or do anything dangerous after you take it (especially the 10mg). YOU WILL FALL ASLEEP. So don't drive or smoke a cigarette etc....

good luck...

thanks"dr"(where else can you get free advice from a physician:grins:) ....

i guess if this continues i`ll have to consider pharmaceuticals....hate the thought of taking potentially addictive stuff, but i`m reading how unhealthy lack of sleep is....

doesn`t seem to matter how hard i push myself...my sleep pattern is doosey-pots and it ain`t no fun....

appreciate your takin` the time...:yup

nyquil

i never have a problem sleeping. i can lay down anytime, anywhere and fall asleep within minutes, kinda like kosar. :D nyquil, however, can knock me off my feet :D

just read or watch tv or visit madjacks ;)

you know if you visit the doc, he'll be giving you a script so don't even bother unless you want them.

never like the CR--contolled release.... sold it as a rep for many years....

not habit forming...within 20 minute out and did't remember nothing until 8 hrs later...

Also agree that Ambien is a good drug for this - not like some others where you wake up feeling very tired - after a solid 8 hours of sleep I generally wake up feeling fine

You may want to get some and start by taking half a pill or something like that - also, never found it to be addictive and I've been told (lol) that I have a very addictive personality.........

Ambien has been in some court cases lately. Allegedly making people do some strange things at night being totally unaware. Now someone wants to perscribe a strange guy a pill that will possibly make him do some strange things at night? Could a strange guy do something stranger? Weasel u have a lot of illnesses. Go smoke a joint and u will be fine. :toast: Weasey didn't one of those Kennedy boys accuse Ambien of making him get up late at night to go to work :142smilie. We are a very medicated society.

My 2nd year, 2nd semester in College I'd find myself not being able to fall asleep and often up until 7-8 am and having to get up for class at 10:15...it was brutal

I would just sit there and stare and not feel a bleep of tiredness. Everything I tried to do to fall asleep wouldn't work. Couldn't make myself fall asleep either.

It was so bad that after my 2nd year I left, took a year off and transfered schools.

I didn't take anything, I just fought through it. Something I never want to go through ever again.

my middle name is insomnia! :mj07:

Jack mentioned Nyquil which is benadryl and tylenol mainly which is also essentially the same as Tylenol PM. That helps a lot of people.

If it hasn't been a problem, weas, then I'm sure you'll get over it. If you don't, try the Tylenol PM or go to the doctor and get Ambien or whatever else he might give you.

My sleep patterns are so poor that I guess I've just grown accustomed to them. I've also worked nights a lot of years, and that makes it really rough!

Ambien has worked well for me in the past as well. Before, when I was sick with my kidneys I often could not sleep. Ambien would do the trick while alcohol made insomnia worse (that's why I quit drinking in January 2007). Alcohol also had a bad effect on me when I was sick with my kidneys. Now that I'm healthy, I might have a couple beers here and there but don't drink near as much as I used to in my younger days.

Ambien isn't for the light hearted. Sleep walking, sleep eating, sleep driving... I have heard some crazy stories about Ambien... add alcohol and its a disaster.

I use Unisom 50 mg of whatever they put in over the counter. The same as two Tylenol PMs...

;)

i`m sorry o.s........that`s what a lack of sleep can do to a guy.........apologies,bro....:toast: ...

have a physical scheduled for feb 5th.....maybe that will uncover something(hopefully not)....

tried some "sleepytime tea" but that was like trying to sink a battleship with a pea shooter...

honestly didn`t consider the nyquil or ambien route....i`d have to be ready to slit my wrists to start taking a prescription, but, this is wacky and it`s not pleasant....so thats definitely a last option...

getting on the treadmill right after this post and gonna make a serious effort to exhaust myself before bedtime....

thanks for bringing to light a few options that i didn`t consider.....as always, much, much appreciated...
