I will be staying at a place called the Brookshire inn and suites Thurs & Fri. night. I used priceline and got in cheap ($50) a night. Is it a decent place to stay? close to some nice attractions etc?

Just taking a bit of a getaway with my wife and would appreciate any local takes that you may offer.

Thanks

i assume its the one in the inner harbor here in Baltimore. If so, you did real good.
let me know what you are looking for for suggestions. I know there is a Legal's seafood right there in the inner harbor, perhaps BTJ could recommend a better dive place to eat.

Yep, Inner harbor. We were just looking for really good seafood close to our room. Also looking for the best place for a sandwich by the ballpark as I expect we will go see the O's play the Rangers. Do you know anything about the aquarium? We heard its pretty cool and that the ride to annapolis is pretty neat as well.

Thanks for your feedback guys !

Legal's seafood is right there and if you have never eaten at one, I highly recommend it. From your room you should just about be able to pee out the window and hit it. After all the yapping beaner did about the place I took my wife there and she keeps on crying and pissing and moaning about why wont I take her back there every night....There are a few other seafood joints right along the waterline there. too many to mention as they are all very similiar and very comprable. I have not eaten at any except legal's and espn zone and hooter's however.

Just about anyplace along the way you are going to get a good burger near the stadium. Your only real choice is waht atmosphere you want to sit in when you eat it. Can't recommend one place over another up there as it is all good for a quick bite.

The aquarium is real nice and worth checking out. As for the boat ride to annapolis, fun time - weather should be nice this weekend so it wont be too rocky on the water. If you have never been to annapolis I would recommend you two spending a day down there just walking around and checking it out. Yer about 50-53 right? if you and the ole lady are into boats/boating pretty scenery, downtown annapolis is right up yer alley.
if you want lunch down in annapolis, you just let me know and i will personally deliver you to the best places to eat yer grub.
you got water, boats, summertime, bars, the shithole naval academy, and plenty of people walking around the shops down there. annapolis beats the inner harbor by a mile.

I live between annapolis and the inner harbor these days, so feel free to look me up, stop in, and make your donation to help pay the mortgage.. ;)

great info marine, looks like that there will not be enough hours in the day to take it all in, but your info should help us maximize the time that we have there. We will be staying the weekend in Bethesda checking out G-Town and DC.

Btw: I'm 47, but often feel like I'm 50something. Do you own a business in the area?

I work in the World Trade Center right in the heart of the Inner Harbor and have a few recommendations for your visit. Check out Little Italy for food. (its in walking distance). thr Babe Ruth Musuem, while in the ballpark, Boog Powell's place. The aquarium has a new addition being built so there is construction all around it but definitley worth going to.

Thanks Terp, BTW is the ballpark within walking distance from the Brookshire Suites, and if so would the late night walk home be a safe one?

Yes and yes. The city has made a a great effort to keep a police presence around at all tiimes and the streets well-lit for the crowds. Its kinda hard to describe sitting here writing but your hotel is one block off the main street that has about 2 miles of tourist attractions. Stuff like the ESPN zone, hard rock cafe, the Inner harbor, and loads of other bars and restuarants.

Damn it Wilson

Damn it Wilson

You are one of a hand full of guys here that I would really like to meet, but unfortunately we will be long gone by noon saturday.

We have a lunch date over in Bethesda with one of my wife's old sorority sisters who now works for the Gov.in DC. We will be at Rosecroft Raceway saturday night.

If you will be there friday, then you have a deal!

PS Thanks again TERP!

Spang,
I am just a young buck, still under the big 3-0 but just barely. Got out of the military and working for the man down here in DC. I know Bethesda... Your wife's sorority sister have a hot daughter? maybe i can tag along. :D
I work for a worldwide recruiting and placement agency... I manage the new federal/government division that we have created here. Mind if I ask what your wife's friend does for the gov? I am always trying to expand my web of people i know inside the beltway here. 6 degrees of separation just doesn't exist down here ---- it is TWO degrees. And I am way behind the power curve lately meeting gov people... ;)

LOL marine, yeah she does have a daughter but she's only about 17, so better not get yourself all worked up. C'mon we're not that old.

I think that her friend has some sort of clerical position at the US dept. of justice but I'm not 100% sure what her position/title is. I'll know more about her after the weekend. Other than a very brief meeting at our wedding some 23 years ago, I have never spoke to her.She and my wife exchange emails and Christmas cards, they are not nearly as close friends as they once were.

Jack, thanks for checking in with your tips, I had heard that about Phillps. When the O's traded
Boog to the indians late in his career he had to wear those hideous bright red double knit uniforms. if you ever get a chance, try to get a photo of him in the old tribe uniform, he looked like a big mutant tomato out there at first base.

Rip, thanks for the good wishes, I'm still pissed at Model, but from what I have seen, Baltimore's inner harbor looks like a terrific place.
