ouch
I just heard this interview:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q1nvawoxjG4" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
He's clearly hung up on in-game wagering being a major part of match-fixing but it doesn't sound like either himself, who managed to get a book published on the topic, or the host, apparently on a sports talk show, knows much about the sports betting industry, either in current form or historically. Just a short interview but has me convinced not to suffer through the book.
While I'm at it, another author on the subject is Declan Hill. Maybe somebody has heard or read him; there are a couple of interviews on youtube which I'll take my chances with soon.
I was listening to VSIN today and they made a comment about 'match-fixing' (some guest was knowledgeable of same) so I did some hunting to see what recent shit has been going on the past couple decades. Other than the Tim Donaghy stuff, whatever all the recent FIFA nonsense was (which was NOT match-fixing) and several iffy rumors, I am unaware of what, if anything, has come up. I was going to add that I'm decidedly skeptical that much of significance has or is going on, but I erased that as I realize that it is a very big world, among other considerations.
Another title amazonk suggests is 'Match-Fixing in Sport: Comparative Studies from Australia, Japan, Korea and Beyond'. Brett Forrest even uses Asia as his main example, but the goes on to describe people betting in Asia, live, on events happening elsewhere. 17 minutes. Hear him and tell me if I'm crazy to think that he is crazy; his description makes no sense. Hopefully Declan Hill is better.
He's got several yt's, but this is just from April:

I can't vouch for it. Scanning through, however, and I would bet big money that he is against gambling.
