i like the guy...but,i haven`t seen povetkin(i am aware of his amateur creds.)...........

i don`t put much stock in the win over shop-worn 37 year old chris byrd....

but a 25 year old chambers can box...he`s very slick....

is povetkin to strong?....home court will be tough,i understand that.....no real height advantage...

No! A guy I know who knows Chambers says he will lose, but he wants me to watch it anyway. Have no idea why if we can't make some green?

I was thinking yes, then learned mcgirt is training him. then I remembered it's overseas in germany where you have to ko the hometown guy, and chambers isn't that kind of fighter. I'd have to say no

i don`t want tony and conan to get pissed by the hometown reference...but,in chambers we have a guy that has practically no chance of getting a stoppage.....it has to be considered...

and i`m no big mcgirt fan....as a trainer...

since when is mcgirt training him ?

Thats bad news. He was always trained by his father. Anyways it doesnt matter to much because eddie knows what to do on his own inside the ring.

Povetkin showed some of his limitations against Byrd and i was very lucky that my under bet made it.

Chambers is the first american HW in a long time that I like, but most americans seem not to like him.

Povetkin is coming forward with a very square stance and always wants to close the distance and fight close range. If Eddie meets Povetkin with his power jab and maybe even a surprise right hand here and there things can get interesting. He sure got Brocks attention with his right hand, Brock was in survival mode the last rounds. SD my ass absurd judging imo.
I dont like Chambers workrate though.

But Chambers fights fearless, relaxed and with very clear eyes. He sees whats going on.
I will be ringside for this one.

this is why i love me some tony m....no hometown b.s... just his honest, straight up opinion...

thank you,bud...well said...at 4-1,and going up,it struck me as a "why the hell not" type of wager...

i know how dominant povetkin was as an amateur..and he`ll probably prevail...but,as you said, chambers has talent...

unfortunately, that lack of pop,at his size, will be very difficult to overcome vs the bigger heavyweights....

The fight against Potvekin was Byrds best performance in ages. For once he was fighting a fighter roughly the same size. Byrd was ducking and weaving and timing his counters, and still getting a beat down like a stray dog.

Potvekin has a great workrate and very skilled offence and is fearless. I think the man to beat Potvekin is a heavy puncher, because Potvekin gets hit plenty coming in. However, he retains his momentum and timing during an exchange. Classic get hit once to hit twice sort of guy.

If Chambers hasn't got a good workrate, and his gut can't mean stamina, then I see Potvekin just piling up the rounds. Win via PTS or late round KO. Potvekin seems real hungry, dudes on a mission.

conan

p.s. I, too, see nothign special in Buddy McGirt as a trainer. But maybe, just maybe, he's got some input into their camp, that Chambers dad cant give. Like "lose that spare tire" and "stop eating them donuts" for example.

Eddie Chambers will beat Potvekin!
It will be a good fight for six rounds then Eddie will
take it over. Eddie was raised to be the heavyweight champion of the world, his Father
has had him on a mission since age 14, and he is almost there. No one will stop him now. Eddie has never been knocked down or hurt in 30 pro fights and 60 some amateur fights. His defense is the best I have ever seen. His jab is lightening quick and much hard than you think. Potvetkin will be frustrated after six rounds of eating the jab, then it is right head, left hooks until he is done!

Are you related to Chambers or just a good friend?

Since you are so confident in a Chamber's victory, I'd like to know how familiar you are with Povetkin, and what weaknesses of Povetkin your boy will exploit...

I'd also like to know where Eddie will find the power to stop Povetkin who has a very solid chin? Last I checked Chambers didn't have enough power to stop anyone, let alone Povetkin

Like you, I hope Chambers wins, but I'm alot more objective and realize he has no chance of winning a decision against Povetkin...esp in Germany

I just hope Chambers puts up a good fight and makes a nice paycheck, he can always come back and be a contender after the loss

I am not related but a good friend. Povetkin says he will see if Eddie is as fast as himself.
He will be shocked to find a heightweight as fast as a lightweight. Ii have watched Povetkin.
Chris Byrd slowed him with his jab, but Chris could not put two, three or four together like Eddie will.
Povetkin will need lots of ice after the fight!

bro...you`re saying he had NO chance to get a decision in germany?...

are you saying that chambers isn`t in povetkin`s class?...or that home court in germany precludes any chance of a chambers win regardless of the flow of the fight?...

looking forward to your reply...

I shouldn't have said NO chance as anything is possible. I just think its highly unlikely for several reasons...workrate,aggression,power,location,promotion. Chamber's will have to dominate to overcome all the disadvantages he has in this fight. Chamber's is a true talent, no dought about it, but he's in a very tough spot here. He uses his handspeed to outbox his opponents, but Povetkin has very fast hands as well and Pov won't allow this to become a boxing match

Just my opinion, but you're right, I shouldn't have said NO chance...my bad

i agree......you said all the right things,imo....i think that chambers` biggest problem will be keeping povetkin honest....i know he`s no power puncher...

and i`m worried that he doesn`t even have"keep `em honest" power....

if he doesn`t(and he hasn`t exhibited that yet),povetkin may just walk him down....and walk through him....

i certainly wouldn`t lay the odds....but,at now 5-1,chambers is such a solid boxer in the old "hide in plain sight-make you miss/make you pay" style, that i have to take a small flyer.....maybe povetkin gets overconfident....

you never know....lots of disadvantages...but,when you look for a 5-1 dog,you want a young guy that can fight a bit....

who knows?....i remember "mad max" pulling the upset in bartertown.... :grins:
