Anyone ever had a problem with a cashier's check....

.....from a sportsbook?
I recently requested a payout from one of my books...a newer one that i am using...anywho,i usually use w/u but they dont use them so i requested a payout via cashiers check.....I received the check in a few days and took it to my bank and they wouldnt let me cash it only dep it...which is ok,but they said they have to wait 11 business days for it to clear becasuse the check is from overseas? WTF??
I have never had a problem like this before.....11 business days????

anyway...just curious if anyone has run into the same problem with their bank before.

Lucky, I got a check like that from mybookie.com and although it took 7-10 days to clear, it does clear in the end...your book won't be trying to screw you over with a check, if they weren't going to pay you they wouldnt go through the trouble of sending it to you...the bank needs those 10 days to get written confirmation from the issuing bank that the check is valid and the money is available...hope that helps

I cant believe it though....why 11 business days to clear.....unreal!

Clearing time like that is pretty standard, nowadays ,on overseas instruments. It could be waived, of course, but you have to be in good/great standing with your bank. IMO, not working in your favor is if it showed "MyBookie" on the face !

A cashier check is just that. They need the time to clear Homeland Security. Anything coming from or going to a foreign country is customs food for the US govt

same thing here takes about ten days had to deposit mine too

yea exactly, its very risky for a bank to just take a big check when they have no diea if the particular bank even exists...dont worry, youll get the money, just gonna have to wait it out
