Anyone ever live in Hawaii?

I have been offered a job on the Big Island. I'm in the golf course business and the course is on the Kona Coast. I've been to Hawaii on vacation but have no idea what it is like to live there....local housing, cost of living, sports bars (LOL), etc. Any information would be helpful.

I don't live in Hawaii but would move Heaven and Earth to be able to! I've been many times and I absolutely LOVE it there. Damn! What a opp you have. You should know that COL is high for the most part. I'm not sure how bad the Big Island is. Not nearly as bad as Oahu I'm sure. I would think if they are offering you a job they surely must know they need to pay you enough to "get by" at the least. I farm in the midwest and am "tied" to my lively hood more or less. I will retire out there rest assured. Every time I get back from the Islands I'm always thinking "Damn, what could I do to make a living and move there"?! Good luck(you lucky sob!..

Two things:
1. Make sure they give you a raise,you will need EVERY dime.
2. Make sure your single-more'Tuna Tunnel' than a man needs.
