I know my basketball days are over but could I still play tennis and run some if I had it done?

Would you try to lose 20 pounds before you had it done?

The research says excess weight is very hard on the joints.

If you have a good surgeon, u can do about anything after a total knee.

Yes, lose weight (hard Bc u have a bad knee).

Make sure u do your rehab and all home exercises. I think u will do well as u seem motivated.

The people who fail are the really heavy women who won?t lose weight or do their exercises. Lots of total knees were done in the 2000s Bc they were a real money maker, and many of them were failures. Bertha just couldn?t understand why she still had pain and immobility as she was downing another bag of freetos and a sleeve of Thin Mints. I have seen some pathetic things.

I am on deck myself after many years of injections and a meniscus clean up 3 years ago. Looking at this new technology offered where the artificial knee is custom made to the precise specifications of the patients actual needs. I was surprised to learn that artificial knees were "off the shelf" in only a few sizes until recently. I'm certainly no expert on the subject but this makes perfect sense to me. It's something that only a handful of doctors offer in my area but may be something you may want to look into.

Very cool! I have seen people suffer thru and get another surgery Bc their new joint was not the correct size.

I wrecked my knee in ?94 playing in a men?s baseball league. Hyperextended it and crushed part of the tibia when I landed. Had bone cut out of my hip and implanted in my knee. I?ve had 6 surgeries on that knee since then including a partial knee replacement. I?m retired now and went to the orthopedic surgeon tuesday. He said the partial is holding up pretty good but every other compartment of the knee is shot (I pretty much knew this) He wants to schedule a total knee replacement in february but I said I want to wait a little longer than that, I?ve been on crutches in the winter numerous times and it?s not a lot of fun. I asked him how compromised will my knee be after seven surgeries and he said the total knee replacement should last twenty years but after seeing my x-rays he wouldn?t guarantee mine lasting fifteen...
