I know home advantage in the NFl is worth about a FG,but what in nCAA BB?

What sort of crowds are we talking about ,roughly?
duke are the best so what do they average?
what is the normal crowd for an average game?
and what sort of crowd would a small(?) school like Towson get?

cheers lads:shrug:

nice question from a brit. ncaa homecourt ad has much more fluctuation depending on locale and opponent. line translates from as little as 2- or 3 to maybe as much as 6- or 7 points to reflect homecourt. crowd effect may be enhanced by sheer numbers, 20 k or more in the biggest arenas, but size alone is not the only factor. duke for example has a smaller venue in cameron indoor but the seats are right on the floor and populated by a most rabid, fanactical and innovatve bunch of student supporters. i remember one year when nc state's lorenzo charles of the '83 nat'l championship team came to duke after being convicted of stealing a pizza from a domino's deliveryman and the duke students pelted the arena with pizza boxes when state took the floor. another time lefty drizzell and the maryland terps came to durham and the entire duke student body came to the game wearing bald caps. you get the picture.

And who could forget the Virginia/Duke game at Cameron with the sign "Olden Polynice and UVA - Team Xerox" right after Mr. Polynice was accused of plagiarism. That might have been worth 5 points right there.
