About 10 years ago there was a band that did covers of Led Zeppelin songs. The lead singer was an Elvis impersonator, and even sang in an elvis-like voice, and the band played the songs to reggae beat.

The band had an album out but I can't find it because I don't remember their name. when I ask music store personnel they look at me like I'm from Mars.

Anyone ever heard and know the band?

The album you're probably after came out about 1990; title "Un-Led-Ed".

Lead singer was named Tortelvis

Shoud still be available on back catalogue at a guess.

Nope, never saw 'em, sold a few copies though...

Man, if an old customer of mine came into a store and my staff didn't know how to find an answer to that inquiry I'd have had to shoot 'em

Guess that's why I went thru staff at a rapid rate

Somewhere in Corn Country
Saw them a couple of times in the late-80s in Iowa City... Fun as hell, and man, the chicks showed up in droves for their shows.
Shoulda seen the sideburns on Tortelvis-- they stuck out at least 5 inches off the side of his face, and his dred-locks were at least down to the middle of his back..
Another great memory of my wild and crazy undergraduate days in Iowa City......
