On the course!
The most over-rated group ever.

Some great songs, indeed, but overall, I think they were none too spectacular.

Whoaaaaaa yyz. The Beatles only changed the whole scene of popular music for an entire generation. Let us review:

'Eleanor Rigby' (I was never sure about the spelling on that one)
'Taxman'
'Revolution'
'Seargent Pepper's' (hmm, can't spell that one either)
'A Day in the Life'
'Tomorrow Never Knows'
'In My Life'
'Ticket To Ride'
'Eight Days a Week'
'Help'
'A Hard Day's Night'
'You Can't Do That'

Not to mention the songs that Lennon-McCartney wrote for the other popular groups of that time.

Nahhh. They didn't accomplish much.

Jeter2 - IMHO the Beatles were THE greatest group EVER!! Ever since I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show, live, in B&W 1964. They defined the era, then rather disgracefully disbanded, which was probably best in retrospect.

I still miss John Lennon.

What they accomplished has nothing to do with being great, or over-rated.

Playing and making music for a bunch of stoned kids ain't that big of a deal.

They did pave the way for a new kind of music, no doubt about it. But their skills as musicians was quite mediocre, and their writing was average.

People praise them based on the fact that they were a new wave, and that is fine. Still, overall, there have been dozens of artists who are far more skilled and deserve a higher place in the pecking order than these lads.

Actually kinda agree with yyz. Blasphemy
i'm sure but kinda prefer Paul's Wings stuff and Lennon's solo stuff. Nobody is going to agree on everything.
