believe it or not, when i was a kid between the ages of 10 and 15 i went to the archery range every weekend with my parents.

we went to maybe 5 or 6 different courses and every week they had match and you competed against people in your class.

they had a lot of different classes. men, women, juniors, free style and sites.

i was free style junior ;)

i have the trophies to prove it.

:0corn

true story.

it's been many years.

oh, and it wasn't like a line of targets that you shot at. it was a course. i forget how many targets they had per course but they had different yardage targets. the bunny (real short), 30 yard, 40 yard, 50 yard, etc. you just walk from target to target through the woods. kinda like a golf course.

when i was about 12-14 years old my brother bought me an archery set with silver tip arrows...i'm ashamed to admit that i used it a couple of times to hunt stray cats in the neighborhood....luckily i didn't kill anything....& my father took it away within a week.....end of story...:mj07:

my stepdad made his own arrows. he bought the shafts, the head and the feathers. he had a little machine he would twirl the arrows around and it burned the feathers into the shape he desired.

man, this is bringing back some memories :mj07:

he made his own gun shells too but that's another thread :SIB

There is a range about 30 miles from here.

14 schools in our county started archery this year with state funds.

State provided each school with 10 Mathews Gensis Bows all equal and with no sights.
They only allow finger shooting only.
