Are you eating food cooked outside your home?

I don't trust it.

They are making it easy to buy and pick up or even have it delivered but how many people handle that food and how carefully are they handling your food? Even the guy who delivers to your car or home. How much do you trust that person? I don't at all. Even under normal circumstances I'm somewhat skeptical. I pass.

Running out to pick up my favorite pizza or my wings or occasional 5guys burger days are probably in the past for me. Oh well, eating that stuff was not so good for me anyway.

The days of going to Buffalo Wild Wings on Sunday to watch the Ravens are probably over too. Sitting at the bar eating and drinking with barely enough elbow room between you and your neighbor is not healthy at all. How far will they separate the bar seating after they open back up?

I don't think things will ever be the same as it was 2 months ago, ever again. Damn shame.

Maybe a vaccine will fix things.

It depends on how the media portrays "safe". Locally, they are driving home the idea of supporting local businesses. So a very high percentage of folks here don't give food safety a second thought.

Nope.......... wife doesn't trust it.

I do all the cooking...or, I'd be on a first name basis with the Fire Dept.

Funny thing is my Daughter called me the other day and said that after consecutive McDonalds commercials came on she was Jonsen for a Big Mac.

When I asked her the last time she had one she said 5 years ago.....
This is a girl who never eats fast food and gives me a ton of shit when I do.

This virus thing has me thinking about stuff I probably never thought of before. Worrying over changing my SOP going forward... Love Chinese food but..............

Pain the Ass...

Even before this thing we're going through now we all have heard the horror stories about what goes on in the kitchens of restaurants. Hell, some people were afraid to send back food that wasn't cooked properly because they were afraid of what they might do to their food in retaliation for sending it back.

The stories of how dirty the kitchens were, the stories of food still being served after it was dropped on the floor, the stories of having your food spit on, etc, etc.

Have you even been served soup from a waitress who had her thumb in the soup as she delivered it to your table? Ever see a hair in your food? What happens in the kitchen? Oh man.

I don't know. See what happens. Maybe these thoughts will go away in my mind like they were before all this happened.

I'm ok with pizza and wings but the idea of ordering a cold sub scares me. I don't know i guess the heat gives me a sense of protection but the idea of building a sub sandwich and all the things you have to touch grosses me out.

Above the Clouds....
I said to the wife last nite that there's take out too that we could do. She just made a face then on the 6 o'clock news there was a story about a local Burger King.. if you used the drive thru from 5am to 2pm the last week you could have been exposed.
They want all people to quarantine themselves. Can't imagine how many people that will be.
That sealed it anyway no take out for us.

There's a pizza joint close to home that I called in once for pick up. I showed up early to watch the process of the order. He used a paddle to take the pizza out of the oven and used the Pizza cutter with his gloves on then closed the lid. He took one glove off to hand me the pizza, which made me a little nervous........ But, the pie was damn good!

On the course!
I still grab a burger every few days. The thing is, I see NO ONE for days on end, so stepping out for a quick bite seems safe enough. BUT, on the other hand, the people handing me my food have been in contact with HUNDREDS of other people before me. That's where the problem might be.

Still we have less than 50 cases reported in my city, so I'm clinging to that!

See post #7 and #9. That city has similar population to yours. I'm older and at more risk than you so probably more careful. I don't even trust fresh produce and fruit anymore, especially when somebody else is picking my food order up and delivering it to my car.

Nope. The Honda Classic and that restaurant we went to on Saturday night, we were rubbing elbows with strangers.

Bullshit.

Most people, after an adverse health crisis, pledge to make sweeping changes. "I'm done drinking!" "No more cigarettes!"

"No more sweets or red meat!"

Then, a week later, business as usual.

This will be no different.

I am very happy that none of you guys got sick...... I was worried about the traveling back home. It was only 5 weeks ago, seems like it was longer than that with being confined at home. :0008

Somewhere in Corn Country
My local watering hole also doubles as the best restaurant in town which ain?t hard to do when your competition is pizza places.
They have a great selection of microbrews which is awesome for a podunk town of 5400 in the middle of a corn field in Iowa. :toast:
Their grilled tenderloins are huge and very tasty. So big the wife and I usually split one.

We got a meal from them last weekend and I refilled a growler of an iowa IPA.

Will most likely do it again this weekend as they truly are the only restaurant in town that I want to support and if I drive to the next town over for carry out, my food is cold in the half hour it takes for me to get back home.
