I was playing golf the other day with a friend of mine and we both asked the question? Are you happy with how life has turned out for you? I pondered this question for a minute, and quickly responded that my life has turned out much better than I would have imagined it would have, yet being 56 my answer may have been different at 45? How about you?

I've got 12 months til retirement.......I'll get back to you.

:0008

and then what

I have spoken to many people about retirement. They tell me it gets old and they have to keep busy doing something. Most end up working at least part time.

Knew a guy that worked installing fence until he was 74. Dude was still strong
as a ox. Now he is fishing everyday in Florida.

happy but disappointed..

I could have achieved so much more if I had decided a lot earlier that sobriety was a better path than "Goodtime Charlie" sloppy drunk.

Hard to make anything of yourself w/a beer in one hand bullshit in the other.

Very. I have a wonderful wife, a nice house, and two great dogs. Play golf every Saturday and Sunday when the weather is cooperating. We live below our means so we feel pretty secure financially, which helps on a lot of fronts.

I was until this snowstorm hit...this area is literally paralyzed.....theres so much snow, you literally can`t manually dig out by yourself....you can`t even get to your driveway without snowshoes....

I don`t think people are getting the true impression of what 30 inches of snow means from the video you see on t.v. of the cities that got hit....it`s the suburbs and surrounding areas that are completely shut off....walking in this shit to get to your car is like doing a stairclimber x5....then you have to start digging...

2010 was bad...this is ridiculous....I`ve never seen anything like it...lotts people are going to perish f`ing with this shit...

It took me 40 years to figure out that the more simply I live, the happier I am. Instead of worrying about what I don't have (and how to get it) I am thankful for what I do have.

Yes. I am happy and wouldn't change a thing.

Financially yes, nothing to worry about the rest of my life. Personally, I'm getting there. After a hostile divorce and not seeing my kids on a daily basis it's getting better and I'm getting re married in April to a girl I met 3 years ago, so hopefully it's happy happy happy going forward.

Actually I don't think I am. Turning 60 last March is the first time in my life that I gave my age much thought. I don't like it. This is like the twilight of my life. I don't like that at all. I've pretty much had a great life doing all the things I wanted to do, signing my own paychecks, never spending one day in the hospital, very rarely getting sick at all (even with all the abuse I've put my body through). When I think about how fast the last 15 years have gone it makes me think about how fast the next 15 will go. Nah, ship me back 20 years or so and then I'll let you know.

I concur. I'll be 52 in a few weeks, and it really gives you pause. I think about the likelihood that I have less than 25 years left.

It's sobering.

I just turned 69 & my life has turned out beyond my expectations. I've been fortunate in my life to be surrounded by a fantastic wife & amazing friendships that have made this happen. The only regrets I have is I wish I took better care of my health.
