This looks like an easy call. To sum up in two sentences? Both teams love to pass. Neither team can stop the pass.

This line opened at 63.5 and has been going up.

The Pac Ten is known as a pass happy conference, and Arizona State is a perfect example. Did you guys see the LSU game? Not only do the Sun Devils pass the ball very well, they tend not to defend the pass very well. They do have a balanced offense, running it just enough to open up their passing game. Whereas the Beavers have a tough time running it, but get lots of air yards. Did anyone see the Louisville game? Oregon State could not stop the Cardinals aerial attack, and were burned time and again for big plays. This has over written all over it. Here are more details I scraped off the teams websites.

From the Arizona State Official Team Website:
The Sun Devils are off to a 2-1 start and the high-powered offense has scored 146 points to set a school record for the most points scored in the first three games of a season.

QB Sam Keller (Jr) has turned in 1,078 passing yards and thrown for 12 touchdowns in the first three games this season. His 669 yards in the first two games set the school record (for first two games of a season). He is leading the Pac-10 with 359.3 passing yards per game and is third in the league and sixth in the nation in total offense at 355.3 yards per game. In the season opener vs. Temple, he completed 14-of-24 passes for 208 yards and a career-best four touchdowns (63-16 win). He has followed that performance with back-to-back four TD, 400-yard games against LSU and Northwestern.

ASU has spread the receiving wealth this season with 16 Sun Devils catching at least one pass and eight different players hauling in a touchdown pass?Senior All-American candidate Derek Hagan leads the team with 15 catches for 238 yards (79.3 avg/game) and has caught three TD passes?[Hagan recently passed John Jefferson on the list of all time catches at ASU]... Junior tight end/h-back Jamaal Lewis paces the squad with four touchdown receptions this season? The ASU receiving corps has been ranked as the fifth-best unit in the nation by Lindy's. ASU returns its top six receivers from last season, including preseason All-Americans Hagan and Zack Miller.

Seven Sun Devils carried the ball 45 times for 290 yards in the Sept. 17 victory over Northwestern. ASU also rushed for 300 yards in the season opener against Temple, marking the team's first 300-yard rushing game in four years. ASU's last 300-yard contest came on Oct. 20, 2001 when the Sun Devils accumulated 314 yards in a 41-24 victory over Oregon State.

From the Oregon State Official Team Website:
Oregon State is 5th in the nation for passing yards per game at 352.7. Not surprisingly, receiver Mike Hass is second in the nation for receptions per game (9.7) and receiving yards per game (165.3).

Head coach Mike Riley will be the first to say he is looking for more balance in terms of the rush vs. the pass. [However], When Oregon State has needed a first down, it has tended to gain it passing. The Beavers have a total of 71 first downs this season, 56 via the pass.

Oregon State is the only program in the nation that started the season playing three preseason Associated Press nationally ranked teams in the month of September -- Boise State opened the year No. 18, Louisville No. 12 and Arizona State No. 20. The Beavers? first four opponents combined for a 38-9 (.809) record last season.

Oregon State entered the season as the only program in the Pac-10 Conference without a senior on the projected starting offensive line unit. In fact, the Beavers have just two upper classmen on the entire two-deep depth chart.

The Beavers also possess one of the most inexperienced rushing attacks in the nation. The team rushed the ball a total of 378 times last season, current players accounted for eight of those carries -- Sophomore Yvenson Bernard (6 att. 20 yds), receiver Brandon Powers (1 att, 4 yds) and quarterback Ryan Gunderson (1 att, 4 yds). Junior Jimtavis Walker did carry the ball 19 times in 2003 for the Florida Gators.

For the first time since 1989 Oregon State does not have more than one returning starter in the defensive backfield. Redshirt-freshman Keenan Lewis and sophomore Gerard Lawson started at the corners in the first game, with sophomore Lamar Herron at free safety.

Oregon State has not defeated a ranked team since it downed then No. 24 Arizona State 45-17, Sept. 27, 2003 at Reser Stadium. The program has lost seven consecutive to ranked foes.
