st- ELLS END (1) looks like he is the controlling speed in here. Like him on the small turnback from 1 mile to 7f
nd-HALO'S TIGER (8) looks like the horse to beat but he has a habit of running 2nd or 3rd. He faced a tough CD Mdn field at a mile and finished 8 lengths in front of 4th.
rd- Louis Roussel has a 3 horse entry and all three horses are contenders. If all go, they will probably be 3 to 5. #4 RICHEST HALF looks to have the best shot at upsetting the entry.
th-11 of the 14 horses are first time starters so anything can happen. Of the 3 horses who've run, #9 WHO's BLUFFING showed the most by far, and is a ridiculous 20-1 in the morning line. He ran 4th in a very fast Mdn race July 18.
th-Even with only 6 horses, 3 look to be lead at all cost types so this sets up perfectly for #2 MOUNTAIN GENERAL. The horse is coming off a stakes win in Texas and Asmussen trains.
th-no opinion
th-If the turf is firm, #5 ASTRA is the horse to beat. She was a heavy favorite in this race last year but hated the soft turf. The horse who beat her last year, #4 ENGLAND's LEGEND is the horse to beat if the turf is soft.
th- no opinion
th- Trying to beat the heavy chalk and taking #1 SARAFAN. This horse has faced Beat Hollow twice and beat him both times and we get better odds. Love the #1 postand Drysdale/Nakatani doesn't hurt either. #4 PAOLINI is trained and ridden by the same two that won this race last year. Could be the value play.
th-# 4 SMOKE CHASER should be in a good position just off the fast pace. I like lone 3 YOs in races at this time of year. #3 EXTENDED VIEW is the horse to beat but there is other speed and she may be pushed a bit.
th-#6 ORCHARD PARK looks like the horse to beat. 6 for 8 on turf and is unbeaten in graded stakes.
