Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Phil Mickelson to win 14/1 e.w. @ BetInternet [6 places]
Hasn't played in this event since 2002, but he did have a particularly good record with four top-5 finishes in six years, including one win (1997). Together with some very impressive performances in his last two strokeplay events which he led from the front virtually throughout in both, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am by five shots and losing in a playoff for the Nissan Open, he should be able to pick up on this course where he left off. With his U.S. Open record as well, the course refinements to make it a more of a U.S. Open-type course should also help his cause.

Robert Allenby to win 33/1 e.w. available generally
Mickelson may rank 2nd in the FedEx Cup standings, but Allenby ranks 2nd in the, arguably, more impressive scoring average standings on the PGA Tour behind Coceres whose average is based on only three Tour events. And that impressive scoring average is borne of consistency: he has finished in the top-10 in five of his strokeplay starts this year. And having finished 4th last year despite a 3rd round 73, he really should continue his run of top-10 finishes, particularly now that the course is playing somewhat harder.

Bart Bryant to win 60/1 e.w. @ BetInternet [6 places]
The move to a tougher setup should also benefit Bryant who ranks 1st in the PGA Tour's greens in regulation standings. Not that the course needed to be changed to suit Bryant anyway: he finished 8th on his course debut two years ago and was the first round leader last year. With some very solid finishes behind him this year - 7th, 4th, 18th and 12th in his last four strokeplay events - and an improvement in his putting - he ranked 5th in putting average at the Honda Classic last week - he is another who really should contend this week.

Good luck Stan. Its been sickening watching Allenby get in contention each week and choke week after week on the back 9 on sunday.

Im interested to see how stenson and rose do this week. I should have matchups by wed. :com:

I act thought tiger at nearly 3 to 1 is decent value, compared to the number you normally get with him.

Cheers abc

According to his site, Rose is no longer playing due to a disc problem that forced him to miss last week's event as well. This is a course that should suit Stenson, but I can't see there being any value odds for him this week following his matchplay win.

I thought bernhard was playin well then last week he cost me a nice chunk of change :nono:
Will has been pretty solid this year. He had the least amount of bogeys last week. Ill take him this week against the old man :com:

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
No time last week for even a minimal writeup. If there had been, I was going to begin with these two observations:

1. In the Honda playoff on Monday morning, I could not have been the only one that thought the ball mark near Villegas' line was a mental land mine inviting disaster with his always shaky stroke from that range. If I could have had 8/1 odds, maybe even 5/1, I would have made one of my largest wagers of the year that he was about to miss that putt, and it was hideous.

2. If I heard correctly, Mark Wilson had made one putt all year from outside 25 feet before the Honda (I also assume he was not filling it up from distances inside 25 feet), and then look what happened . . . So, who will be this week's annointed one?

The answer came in the unlikely figure of Mark Calcavecchia - unsupportable on the basis of the prior week, I heard it noted.

Outrights:

On to this week . . . gusting breezes have my attention and concern, but as a capper it seems they can lay down almopst as easily . . . who's looking to be annointed as The King's king . . .

Geoff Ogilvy(40/1) e.w.
- - Oddly, supplants Stenson as the world's most underrated player at this moment in time, IMO.

Kenny Perry(80/1) e.w.
- - Defending champion in abstensia.

Mike Weir(80/1) e.w.
- - Beyond reasonably certain he's nearer rather than further.

David Duval(250/1) e.w.
- - Its been almost two months since I committed to a strategy of passing on him until taking him in his first start in Florida, really didn't think it would come at Arnie's place.

Rocco Mediate(250/1) e.w.
- - Give 'em heck.

Charles Howell(28/1) e.w.
- - Perhaps not an indifferent homecoming week before his cortege.

I think this horrendous results may warrent a little explaintion -so you don't think I lost my mind.
Aside from Immelman having horrendous record here averaging about 3.7 strokes over par for 10 rds (only 13 players in field with worse scoring ave on this course)
in addition he also had very bad tee time with winds projected to pick up around 15 mph in afternoon--so what actually occured--look at timed wind chart in link--and you will note right at his tee off winds dropped to zilch and remained that way for his entire rd--while players picked against him all hit the brunt of winds that day.

:com: I was on the road .. i meant to get in a fade bet on Lehman in rd 4 and one on rocco in rd 3 ( for obvious reasons). Well see how it pans out.

Amazing how high the scores have been on the weekend. Caught a nice break with Choi WD'd..

Well see how the rest of the plays go. G luck

Ditto here Ridle--and good call LIA.

Thought Rocco was history when he started doing the back stretches on course on back 9 Sat--Evidently got it worked out over night.
