Still shaking my head how North Carolina and Texas made the tournament. West Virginia much better resume and lost their best player first two weeks of the season. Even Indiana had a much better resume, what a shame to their kids who should be there. North Carolina athletic director on the committee says he didn’t have anything to do with it. All bullshit!

what do you guys think?

My nephew is a WVU graduate, and he's really upset, he thought there was no doubt that the Mountaineers would make it. Now he root hard against Alabama where his sister goes to school. It's all about the brand!

same shit every year. a couple bluebloods that had mediocre years get in.

one thing the committee doesn't understand (or care about)... the best games, the games that grab the attention of the casual fans who only pay attention for a couple weeks because they filled out a bracket, are the games where some mid-major takes a higher seed down to the wire. games between two mediocre teams from the top conferences are usually boring as hell.

oh, and to your other point... yeah, they gotta figure out a way to make the committee truly independent.

hell, i'm half serious when i say we'd be better off just letting jay bilas select the teams. or joe lunardi, for that matter.

at least i get the argument for texas. easily the best conference in the country, and plenty of "quad one" wins. but unc absolutely shouldn't be in.

It's so bad. There is no plausible argument for UNC making it. Absolutely one. If you put that resume on Georgia Tech we wouldn't even be considering it.

I'm a big Longhorns fan/alumni so I'm biased. Glad they got in as they can be good but they are very inconsistent. Beating many tournament teams and going toe-to-toe with others show they are worthy, but I was kinda hoping they wouldnt get in and they fire Rodney Terry. Good guy. Good coach. Decent recruiter. But not SEC-caliber. Texas has the 2nd highest NET of the final 8 teams and the most Quad1 wins and they valued that a lot.

UNC got in on NET and having their AD as the committee chairman. West Va should have gotten in over UNC. IU maybe too. They finished strong though in a weaker conference.

I think overall the committee did pretty good. A few teams got a bad seed and UNC shouldnt have been in over WVa, but otherwise no complaints.

They got in specifically to draw viewers to the playin games. Theres usually a ucla or michigan or notre dame whatever to get their ratings off to a hot start.

Nothing sets off the event like UTSA and NCAT
