eeeerock, I think it's a good solid pick. I say that with the knowledge that there's a good chance he won't end up being great either because he just doesn't or because he gets injured. BUT, if he does then you're set with the back and front court. The kid is still very young but damn is he athletic, especially for his size. You don't see many 7'1 guys that can move like he can. Give him 2-3 years of training with NBA big guys and he might end up being the best center in the NBA. If he was a stiff I would say hell no to the pick but he's far from it.
I also think his upside is a lot higher than Noels. Noel will end up playing PF in the NBA. He's not tall enough for center and for sure he's not broad enough and doesn't look like he has the frame to get there. I think Noel gets pushed around in the NBA for years to come. If he doesn't find a great mid range shot then he'll be in trouble. Len is a back to the basket kind of guy. You don't find many of those that do well in college because it's a harder to play back to the basket consistently. I think he's one of those guys that has a better NBA career than he did college.
I think Cleveland made an excellent pick and their good fortune means that Len dropped to the Suns and they were dumb enough to take him.
How many tall white guys who can rebound and tall white guys who can shoot do these teams have to take based on "upside" for the teams to realize that upside means they play about eight minutes a game.
Tyler Hansbough is the last guy in this category who even can get primetime minutes and no one is impressed.
The Suns are playing for the #1 pick next year and cheers to the Cavs.
Can't believe we finally went out on a limb to sign what could be their best center in a long time....I know Bynum has issues and bad knees but it isnt like they had to give anything up besides some money. The possibility of what he can do with Kyrie feeding him for easy dunks is something we haven't had here. Not holding my breathe by anymeans but I like it.
He could be the best FA signing in a long time for the money they gave up. He's only 25 and IMO has shown far more skill and refinement than Howard ever has. If the kid they drafted out of UNLV does well then they might have turned the corner.
