Just spent the last 12 hours shovelling mud from the flood.

Exhausted... pictures to come later.

"the bunker"
you got hit with that mess?...good lord, man sorry to hear this....

i remember coming home after working on the 4th of july and one of the weasels flushed a downstairs toilet and it continued running at the very same time the silver maple in the front yard managed to infiltrate the sewer line...

i opened the door and water came gushing out of the house.....

it was a mess...but,no mud...

i feel your pain,woody...

i guess the homeowners won`t be much help....strangely enough, mine did cover some of the clean-up.....but i had to put in all new molding and flooring....

g.l.,dude...nothing worse than water damage...ashamed we aren`t living in the same vicinity,i have some good-sized fans that would help drying shit out....

Woodson- what part of Atlanta do you live in? My Dad is in Buckhead and tells me all is well at his house. Have a sister in Kennesaw that I havent heard from. Born and raised there, dont remember anything like this. Have a friend on Peachtree Creek with big problems, same for Nancy Creek. Please keep us updated and good luck.

Acworth, GA
Woody we got over 23 inches of rain here in Acworth since last Monday (9/14), most of it coming from Saturday morning til this past Monday afternoon. Luckily we had no flooding issues in our basement. Gluck with your cleanup.

Thanks fellas. The one positive of this event is the first time I've ever felt a sense of community.

A couple other fellas stepped up and the three of us took care of business yesterday. It's been a while since I've made new friends so to speak . Hell, I hardly have time for the ones I have already. Its good to know there are a couple people in my community I can count on in the event of a disaster.

While we didn't receive damage to our place, there was considerable damage to our neighbors down a bit closer to the creek and on a lower flood plain and we worked on clearing sidewalks and removing trash, recyclables, etc until last night.

Best beer ever after a hard days work.

That's good stuff. Not to get too philosophical or anything, but the world sure would be a better place if everyone would stop talking about how busy they are, turn the TV off, and become neighbors to their fellow man again.

Just sayin'

And you're right, Woodson. Cold beer after a hard day's work with a few friends is one of the great treasures of life.

I saw where some areas got over 20 inches of rain
in a 36 hour span. That is freckin insane. Hang in
there Woody, good things do come out of tragedy.
