Carnell "Cadillac" Williams the Auburn Tigers stand out running back last week facing Vandy, had 20 touches compiling 170 yards on the day along with 2 TD's. Over the past 3 games to start the 2002-2003 season, Williams has racked up 345 yards on 45 carries (7.7 yards per carry) with 5 rushing TD's for the Tigers. Look for the Tigers to call on Williams all evening, as the Tigers has out rushed Miss. State, 236.0 yards to 103.0. Miss. State's Points scored of 64 verses Points allowed of 49 doesn't compete with Auburns Points scored of 104 while only allowing only 30. Grant it, the Tigers have one more game under their belt than Miss. State, but I think this is another plus for Auburn.
Auburn's QB last week against Vandy was impressive as well. Quarterback Daniel Cobb displayed some composure by completing 13 of 18 passes for 143 yards. More important, he didn't commit any turnovers for the second consecutive game following a poor performance against Southern California in the season opener. With the "Cadillac" in cruise control along with a passing threat, Auburn out matches the Bulldogs.
With things looking good on the offensive side of the ball, things aren't too shabby defensively either for Auburn. The defense allowed only two field goals, and has only given up 6 points in their past two contest. The defense also forced 4 turnovers and the defense picked up two of those and returned them for touchdowns. The Bulldog's defense is vunerable as they showed in a matchup with a Division I-AA Jacksonville State team, allowing 180 yards of total offense and more than five yards per carry in the first half. "I didn't think we played well up front defensively," MSU coach Jackie Sherrill said.
2* Auburn -3 (-107)
