1-1

Great win by your boys last week Coops...got some very good young players up and running. How long they can stay that way might be a problem, but definately look solid early.

Well, traditionally a bad week for me personally...combined with some tough games...combined with some tight odds (Tiges only 2.20 ish...Hawks about evens)...
...looks like a disaster waiting to happen...:nono:

Brisbane? Odds don't help out much...Pies won big in Brisbane last year, only for the Lions to return the favour in Melbourne...but, mainly due to Brennan going totally mad.
Pies midfield was pretty much smashed by Freo (minus Haselby obviously)...49-52 I50's in the end, but was a huge margin at 3/4 time.
But, Brisbane did have just 43 last week, admittedly against one of the best defensive midfields in the comp.
Pies D was made to look good with some horrible Freo delivery, but a shot every 1.58 entries for them...not sure if that was good Collingwood efficiency, or a bad Freo back 6. (Who allowed 1.80 on the road last year)
Too tough for me to call I think...

Tempted by Melboure +18.5...sadly enough.
Dogs have won just 3 of their last 10 at the MCG by >18...Richmond (with 3 LESS shots!!), Collingwood in a must win final to play Rohan Smith's 300th in Perth, and Richmond again, with just 2 more shots.
Melbourne beat Adelaide and Collingwood at home last season (and Carlton x2), lost to Pies by 11, Kangas by 1, Port by 5, Freo with just 5 less shots and pumped by Rchmond.
Beat Dogs by 42 last season (Dome...with me in it! ) with Dogs as 1.35)...Dogs won first meeting by just 6 as 1.45 favs.
Possible let down by Dogs...has to be some form of upswing by Melbourne!

Total should be a goer tho, given a fine day...Both D's look pretty bad. I know the books will set a high total, but I'm willing to go pretty high.
[Although forecast is for showers and wind.]

Eagles have a fantastic record v. Crows @ AAMI, but Burton didn't play last year...Crows had more I50's, and only 1 less shot.
Not sure either team's form is all that good (end of last year, and Rd. 1.)...would have to be leaning to the +6.5 simply because it's going to be close either way...too close to call?

Hawthorn forwards should have a big day against Freo, but will it get there enough? As I mentioned Freo mids were good last week, likely to see Ibotson and/or Palmer this week...
...Surprisingly only allowed 100+ in 2 games in last 10 at home last season, one to Geelong, so they do keep it tight.
Have won last 2 meetings, both at Subi. Odds just about right, imo...will probably tip Freo, given everyone else will be on the Hawks (won't they?)
Can we get Freo as home dogs by kick off??!!

Saints win, but won by only 10 last season...as shown last week, don't score enough to win by lots. Could be anywhere from 10 to 100...

Sydney -6.5 looks a play early. Fantastic record at the SCG...one loss in last 10...the rest wins by 27 or more!...inc. 31 points over Port last year.
Port had a great run home last year...7 of last 10 at home...1 away v. Richmond...although wins @ Geelong and @ Launny look prtty good.
Syndney still looked a lot like Sydney to me last week...

Geelong win too I guess, but Bombers did look pretty good last week. No Lucas hurts...but not so much in the Dome I guess. Geelong won last year by 50...no Lloyd.
A bit like the Saints game for me...anywhere from 2-82 won't surprise.

Richmond?? Don't even know where to start. Are North that bad? Only 3 less inside 50's, but a disfunctional forward line (2.32)...somewhat surprising is that Essendon (2.01) had the 5th best defensive numbers last year, behind Sydney, Crows, Geelong and WC...Tiges had second worst (1.77) behind Carlton.
Kangas pumped them last year, but at the Dome...Richmond won 2 of their last 3 at the MCG last year (Coll and Ess)...lost to St. K. by 10...and have won last 5 ats...
...Leaning Roos, but don't really like the MCG for them...again, odds probably right...Tiges a bit tight maybe?
(Although I see now that Pawa has declared his boys bankers of the week!! :scared :00hour )

Still early days, but Swans...A big maybe on Melbourne, Eagles...

Interesting read C.......but I wouldn't put one of Coop's Malaysian Ringgits on Melbourne anytime this season!! :mj07:

They are a bad footy side who will get smoked plenty before this season has finished. I reckon they should be ridden against the spread all year for a nice profit.

2 goals at 3/4 time is plain scary. Your Doggies can win by 4+

Thankfully we get em in week 4......thats if Geelong leave anything left of em in week 3!!! (Now that game will get ugly) :142smilie

Sydney minus the goal will get me. Roos into Saints also.

Gone with...

Melbourne +18.5

Sydney -5.5

...both for reasons above...(I don't disagree Pawa, that Melbourne are bad, but I'm not giving up on the notion that the Doggies aren't that much better! :scared )

Geelong -20.5

The more I look, the more this line does look a little low.
Premiers v. a bottom 5 team without it's best forward...
Cats have won 5 of last 6 meetings, 4 by more than this (10 point win at MCG, not dome), and 42 and 50 point wins in the last 2 years.
The Bombers looked terrible for the first nearly 1/2 of last week, before their pace overtook a plodding North, but Geelong will take advantage of their forward running far better, esp. given the likely roadblock at CHF.
Geelong took their foot off the pedal last week, and were publicly critisized for it by the coach.
No such troubles this week, should lead to a decent win.

Good luck guys. :0corn

Hello there fella, just wanted to drop a line into Mr. Christo as I followed your N.F.L. picks religiously this past season and must say you are one of the finest I've come across, appreciate your hard work and efforts as the profits were AWESOME:00hour , I MUST ask the question beings this is a sport unfamiliar to myself ( as far as players and capping). Are you as strong in Aussie Footys as you were/are in N.F.L (american Football) I just done 15 mins of research just to find the teams mentioned above, there opponents, and date/times of play.....looks like there may be MORE $$ to be made and I have NO PROBLEM stomaching any losses that may occur as I only have well wishes and BOL to the ones who dedicate there time and efforts to the site to help others. My local doesnt carry this sport but i do have an off shore that does, I am going to re load my off shore so I can follow along with this part of the forum in hopes of adding a few units, again I am blind in this so I EXPECT NOTHING but I hope you and "the crew" here have an awesome year in which we all profit, following BLINDLY some dont suggest but I understand the ups and downs of my actions:SIB Maybe just maybe I will get the hang of this by years end to be able to recognize and identify teams and times even in the homeland prices and nicknames:shrug: . For now that will be MY capping and workload to find the teams and times these games are played in order to get the wager in....not a bad start tonight as AFL.com has allowed me to nail down the three selected, thanks again for the units earned during NFL season and BOL in the AFL which I have a feeling this forum will make plenty of units in:0corn

Hey, jer-z jock...thanks alot my good man! :toast:

Yep, plenty of $ to be won on our "home town" sport as well.

I'm pretty lucky at preset, as I get to watch every game every week (or does that just mean I don't have a life?! :142smilie ), so I'm a bit more about opinion and feel...

...PAWA has a system (which as he mentioned is about to roll :SIB ) which is more stat driven...he'll be able to tell you more, but I can only remember 1 losing year in the last 4-5...6 even? :0corn

But, either way, happy to have you along for the ride...
...I trust it will be a pleasant journey!

Going against your own side and losing (by winning :nono: ) 2 weeks in a row...

...more concerned about losing my mind than my money!! :cursin:

Oh, and my balls??...helium filled balloons!! I get bruises on my chest when I run.

Good lord that was a pumping!!....After (really!) being the better team in the first quarter, Melbourne proved just how bad they are...
...oh, how bad they are...

Come on then boys...competition time...

...closes one to guessing the Geelong/Dee's spread next week wins, well, our respect! :142smilie

Geelong -60??

Yeah a good round 2 for all by the looks of it. Reality has set in at Essendon (and for Coops! :mj07: ) as the reigning champs dismantle their sorry arses!!

Sydney, Roos & Saints in a canter. Melbourne get smashed for the second week, much to Christo's pleasure / pain!!

Don't make me put it in bold type......Go against the Demons all year and you will cash plenty. At least until the books break the -70 points barrier!! :142smilie Take the opposition over 39 at least.

Will check some data this week and hopefully have a play or two to get this seasons system up and running. Hope you're smelling the right kind of smoke coops!!

Mightn't have to wait long! :scared ...Although down at Kadinia the weather might be kind to the Dee's...
...Geelong could easily have won by 200 at the dome (and still could of course!! :142smilie )

Yep, nice of the Sunday favs to come through...saved what could have been an embarrassing weekend, going against your own team and being the lazy 90 points out! :mj07:

Rd. 3. looks scary early aswell...as Pawa isn't putting in bold, there's 1 ceratin tip each week, but that's about it.
Oh, the really bad story?...tipped 7 this week, and had the closest points margin in the Roos game, s would have won the weekly prize with 8...
...no prizes for which game I got wrong...:violin:

Pawa, reality has not set in mate, just a small wake up call to get the season going.....that's what I need to believe at this stage anyways. Not sure if the smoke is from the express on the way into town or the left over carnage from round 1 that continues to burn on Arden street! :mj07: Thoughts paw? lol!

Haha! Thought they may have been a quick reply to that last post paw! Hopefully things aren't that bad mate. The AFL's annual concessions should help the club keep a genuine roof over its members nogins!
