Damn, I so thought it would be Lawrence Frank next! How wrong could I be?

Lakers, then Nets. I don't think anyone would have thought that would be the chopping order this year. Nice job, D Will. Two down...

Avery Johnson was Eastern Conference coach of the month for both October and November. Crazy how quickly things can change. Bye-bye, Little General.

Deron the Diva

"We figured it was time to have this chin-wag ? even after a decent but disappointing night at the Garden ? because you?re a sensitive soul who needs to be approached carefully even when we venture into something intended as a friendly critique.

This has less to do with how you play ? which is bad enough, you readily admit nowadays ? than how you act, which is just one evening gown shy of a diva."

True, they are playing the horrible, horrific, no good, very bad Bobcats. I have added some more information below. Still think it will be a good bet. In every game below, each team covered the spread by at least double of what it was...

2011-2012 season - coach fired, next game...

Paul Westphal fired from Kings 1/5/12. Kings win by 3 and ATS as 3 point dog at home vs Bucks.

Flip Saunders fired from Wizards 1/24/12. Wizards win by 15 and ATS as 7 point favorite at home vs Bobcats.

Mike D?Antoni ?resigned? from Knicks 3/14/12. Knicks win by 42 and ATS as 5.5 point favorite vs Blazers at home.

Nate McMillan fired from Blazers 3/15/12. Blazers win by 11 and ATS as 9 point dog vs Bulls on the road.

2012-2013 season:

Mike Brown fired from Lakers 11/9/12. Lakers win by 24 and ATS as 7.5 point favorite at home vs Warriors.

Avery Johnson fired from Nets 12/17/12. Nets...

Brooklyn & Avery = Bad match, high expectations from upper mgt, mainly the owner, for a team that is two players away from getting to playoffs or even 2nd round of playoffs, he'll bounce back on his feet, probably take Barkley's job at NBA Network or TNT!

ESPN NBA guru (NOT) Mark Stein is reporting Nets seeking to find out if Phil has interest? You gotta be fokken kiddin right? This is a guy who told the Lakers he didn't want to travel coast to coast, and needed some vacation time between long trips, Phil's done!! If he comes back it's because of the ego, not the love for coaching - he lost that Zen when he couldn't get the Lakers back to win another before he left.

Nets are a club that no smart coach should try to go to. Someone like Mike Brown would fit in just fine with the Nets!! LOL Yes, boss man, what do you want me to do? Ok yes, install the Princeton offense and defense? Ok, yes boss man!! NOT!!

why does everyone act like this Brooklyn roster is stacked with talent? they're average at best.

What did they expect Avery Johnson to do...he didn't have much to work with.

I think it is a pretty good roster... one of the top 5 point guards in the league, 3 starters who have been all stars and one really old all star, a solid center, and some good role players...

Compare them to some other eastern conference teams that have a similar record - Philly, Orlando, Boston... of all these I would say only Boston has a better roster, but I would probably rather have the Nets at this point just because of the age factor.

I would say they have underachieved a bit. I think they should be better than they are right now.

You're right, Hippo, they have some guards, but no bench depth and could have used someone like Stephen Jackson or Lamar Odom, not saying trade for either of those guys, but someone comparable to those two would help them up front, Lopez is ok, but he's not KG or a Haslem/Bosh. No coach that they hire this late in the year, even though they have over 50 games left, is going to take them to the post-season anyhow, it don't happen too often in any pro sport for a team to fire a coach and end up in the post-season.
