Yea he was solely responsible for the trade of Kidd that disrupted the team unity.

He was also responsible for the play of Josh Howard and motor mouth Stackhouse.

no adjustments vs GS? What could he have done they ran into a buzzsaw who from top to bottom was more athletic and they just couldnt slow them down and to add to that the MVP didnt show up period.

Im sure he made attempts maybe the players just didnt adapt.

His record speaks for itself.

Btw Im not a Dallas fan or an Avery fan matter of fact im happy they lost to NO but it just bothers me when a coach gets fired its because what they didnt do yet the players are the ones usually at fault and the coach is the scapegoat then someone posts about how he wasnt getting it done.

Owtkast, I'm not sure if you live in the DFW area or not but he lost this team and they weren't listening to him. I can go in to details if you would like.

On the GS series- They were more athletic, so f'ing what. The Suns, in past years, were more athletic than any team they played and they still lost. The Mavs had a 67 regular season win team and a team that was 8th was so good that there were no adjustments that could have been made.

Did you watch the Hornets series the last few weeks? Could you see that Damp coudn't guard West? I could, everyone else around Dallas could but for some reason Avery couldn't.

He was mad enough at the team(because of a party Sunday after the game) that he cancelled practice on Monday. Are you freaking kidding me, the day before an elimination game and he cancels practice?

Avery is a great human being and a good coach but he has some growing to do. He may still end up being a great coach but it was time for him to go. Even he admitted that on the radio.

I live in Dallas and follow the Mavs! Avery is just being singled out as the fall guy! period!!. Dont get me wrong he had his faults but i see all that as growing pains of a young but talented coach. How people here rationalise firing a coach that has taken this team furthest in its 28 year history is still beyond me. Yes he lost in the finals but he didi get there didnt he? he won 67!! games the next yr 67!! with a team we all knew was flawed but refused to acknowledge it. Looong before the collapse in the first round last year Dallas had always had problems facing the Warriors as amatter of fact that match up was always a money maker fo me cos the lines were always way off. They were just a bad matchup. but the microwave attitude of Mavs fans ,mngmt and ownership(Cuban) is always what gets this team in trouble! we can never see the forest for the trees! we let Steve Nash go or nothing:scared nothing i tell ya why "because he about to break down, can't play any D, we need inside scoring etc" so 2 MVPs later this team has been chasing that mistake looking for a PG. We gave up on Devin Harris and now we give up on Avery! just watch another team snap him up so he can torment the Mavs for years to come. Has anyone even bothered to look at the roster of this team? Its a miracle Avery was able to get what he got outta them. the last time i checked the GM lil Nellie who is responsible for setting the roster has made bone head move after bone head move from all the corpses we have on the bench to wasting draft picks looking for the next Euro to hit to just releasing Nick Fazekas just to allow another washed up stiff Juwan Howard/ Jamal Magloire (take your pick) stay!:mj07: unbelievable that this guy still has a job!
All in all I cannot blame J Kidd the trade has not worked out but you'd think somebody ie the Gm /Cuban knew this guy was not a scoring threat regardless ill take an aging Kidd over a Zero in the middle Dampier anyday! So blame Avery all you want but in reality Red Auberch and Phill Jackson combined could not win a championship with this squad!! i'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Mavs run is over!! hopefully it does not take another 20yrs to get back to the finals since the fans here suffer from amnesia and a 50 win club is just totally unacceptable and a total failure!!

Sooner pimp, Avery is singled if he's the only change made but I think you're going to see that he's not the only change around here.

I would have been fine if they would have kept him but I'll say this, he was ready to go as much as Cuban was ready for him to go. For him not to have a practice on the only day he could in between games is just unacceptable. I can understand him being mad but if you're mad then kick Josh and the 3 other players that went out of practice. Was it fair to the 9 that didn't go to the party and still wanted to try and win the series. Imagine if you were one of those players that listened to him, didn't go, and the he bailed on you and didn't have practice. I would have been pissed at him, heck I am pissed at him and I'm pissed at Josh and the 3 players that went after he told them not to.

Not being ignorant, but my thoughts....

From the outside looking in, the Dallas window is CLOSED. I would be shocked if Dallas made the playoffs next year. The team is just not that good. Hard to just point the finger at Avery. A stick of TNT might be needed....

Kidd, whom this might have been the most stupidest trade ever, is old can't score and big liability on defense. At least Harris might have been able to stay in front of Paul and make him work on the other end too.

Josh, doesn't get IT and is collecting a paycheck. Just not hungry. There are many players in the league that winning isn't the only thing. Go party.

Dirk, just too soft IMO. Not a good defender nor does he rebound.

Dampier, provides nothing.

JT, Stack, Jones? I like Bass though. Where does this team go now? LA-NO-SA-Utah-Houston-Phoenix are a pretty much given for the playoffs next year barring a MAJOR injury. That leaves 2 spots for Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Portland, and SAC. IMO, Portland will be a very nice team next year, and that would leave one spot. Not good.

I said when Dallas was in the finals that they were overrated and everyone laughed at me and then they got beat in the first round the following year. I took a look at their drafts from about five years back and they have been horrible. People don't realize that talent evaluation should be the number one goal of a franchise. You look at what Dumars is doing in Detroit and you will see a solid team for the next ten years.
