Seemingly out of the spotlight after the big events of the summer Lawyer Ron is poised to solidify his name as a dominant thoroughbred in the $500,000 Louisiana Super Derby this Saturday the 23rd.
At one time hot on the Road to the Roses trail Lawyer Ron had won the Arkansas Derby, the Rebel Stakes and the Southwest Stakes going into the Kentucky Derby. We all know what happened there and the world fell in love with Barbaro. That was the only defeat of his last eight starts and the colt needed to have surgery following the Kentucky Derby to remove bone chips from his ankle.
A rest proved worthwhile as Lawyer Ron came back a winner again proving he still had what it takes at the St. Louis Derby. The Super Derby will be a tough challenge however with the likes of Strong Contender and Point Determined looking to prove they still have what it takes as well. If Lawyer Ron can come out a winner again it wouldn?t be a surprise to see him challenging for the Breeders Cup.
