A psuedo Dennis Miller like rant here. Just some notes re betting on my Sabres. They looked horrible for most of the first period last night v. TB. Skating in sand, looked like hangover from previous few games.
Then it was just sick/ridiculous how they buzzed in the second period for seven consecutive goals. Have seen it a few times this year. They suddenly turn it on and they look like the Gretzky Oilers. Of course it's tremendously exciting and the grumbling, quiet HSBC arena just explodes. But for gambling, it does make them a tad unpredictable. Every game we are waiting for that burst and its great to have it but.... Against Pitt and Ottawa, it looked like we needed a slumpbuster (ode to Mark Grace, someone's gotta sacrifice and do the ugly, fat chick to break the spell).
Home games v Leafs Wed night and Montreal on Friday. Last home leaf game sucked as 33% Leaf fans were loud when they took it to Sabes, Chanting Mill-er and na-na-na, etc. Nothing better than beating the Leafs at home but when it goes the other way, it's ugly. I'll probably bet against Toronto out of spite but Buff has not been too good v. quality teams lately and I think the Canadien teams (including Ottawa making the bounceback) are looking strong.
Just some random thoughts as I get early-psyched for the playoffs, nice to have the early cushion and hopefull the injury bugs get worked out before the playoffs this year. Karma would have Connelly come back in March, like Cole returned for the 'Canes last year.
Screw Carolina. That was like Florida winning the World Series. Would much rather have seen Oilers win it. Hey, I love Canada, it's like the 51st state (go ahead canucks, gimme grief for that one). The "ballet" in the Falls is best in the world. If you don't know that that is, you should look into it. And me and the boys are going to try curling soon, it's right by the casino, they've got a bar, that shold not suck!
Drink to the year of the BUFFALO!!!!!!!!!!!
