B.J. Penn a big favorite in UFC 107 main event

The main event of UFC 107 on Saturday features a Lightweight Championship bout between current champ B.J. Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez (11 pm ET, PPV).

Penn is a -290 favorite in Mixed Martial Arts Betting Odds at betED.com, while Sanchez is a +220 underdog.

Penn is 14-5-1 with five KOs. At the 155-pound weight, Penn has not been beaten in eight years. As the UFC Lightweight Champ, ?The Prodigy? has turned aside all challengers, including top contenders Joe Stevenson, Sean Sherk, and Kenny Florian.

When fighting in different weight divisions, the only losses Penn has suffered in more than eight years are to Georges St. Pierre (twice), Matt Hughes and Jens Pulver, although he has wins over Hughes and Pulver, as well.

Sanchez is 23-2 with six knockouts. ?Nightmare? won the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter. He has a well-earned reputation as a finely tuned fighter who has grown and adapted through his career.

Sanchez is 2-0 since dropping down to the 155-pound weight, scoring impressive wins over Stevenson and Clay Guida.

Also on the UFC 107 card is a highly anticipated fight between Frank Mir and Cheick Kongo.

Mir is a -210 favorite and Kongo is a +170 underdog in UFC Betting Odds.

Mir is former two-time UFC heavyweight champion who is returning to the Octagon to begin his quest for a third title. He is trying to move back up the ladder in one of the sport?s toughest divisions.

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace, Mir will have to find a way to fight through Kongo?s intense striking-attack style.
