You will want to book your room as soon as possible. Football weekends in T-Town fill up fast. It's been a few years since I've been back to campus for a game, but if you can get a room at the Jameson Inn on the west side of Tuscaloosa that's a good location. You are less than 15 minutes from campus and there is a Hooters nearby.
There is also a nice Fairfield Inn and Courtyard by Marriott less than 3 miles from the Stadium.

You have to make it to the original Dreamland for some of the best ribs you will ever have. Another stop for some great food is the Waysider. Go there for breakfast. Ramma Jamma's is near the stadium and after you've toured the Bear Bryant Museum you need to stop by and grab a burger. I've never made it by there, but I hear that Mugshots in downtown Tuscaloosa is another must eat place.
If you can't get a room in T-town Birmingham and Bessemer are less than 45 minutes away. If you are a golfer, bring your clubs and play Old Colony in T-town or Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham.
As far as tickets are concerned, I would focus on your PSU connections. I'll be looking for tickets to this game as well. Ebay and Stubhub will be good places to start sometime in late July. I would be shocked if there are any tickets made available to this game through the Bama ticket office.
Stay in touch and let me know if you are going. I hope to be there rooting on the defending National Champions.
