NFL picks don't always follow any real formula. Successful handicappers always adjust when players change teams, new coaches come into a new situation and set up their own regime and injuries and time played for starters are keyed in making a logical selection on a play in the Pre-Season. If you followed trends the first week and early, you would of lost bank already. Why give your man early money? Get an edge and put him on the hot seat.
Dogs have covered the last 4 NFL pre-season matchups with two pushes. Totals are tricky as well. Don't get caught up in trends.
Thursday play for me is one unit. No fancy schmancy stuff from me. Simple plays with a lil logic.
Bill Callahan is no John Gruden of course, and he's got a lot of talent that is being sorted out. No job is secure with the Raiders lineup right now and won't be until Week 3 or 4 in the Pre-Season. Backups are looking to make their mark here and Tennessee does not want to risk any early injuries so you will see their key players only get in a few key drives and that is basically going to be it here.
Play the dog +4, Raiders.
New Orleans is another live play only because there are some matchups that might be pretty enticing here. Ricky Williams plays against his old team, Jim Haslett plays against another former co-coach in Dave Wanstedt, and there could be many defensive switches in this game.
Play here is the dog again, +2 in the Saints. Brooks is still looking for a bigger bank deal, so watch the second & third string Qb's looking to impress today versus a stingy defense that is looking for quality backups. Could be a low scoring game. 14-13 Dolphins.
Best of Luck.
