I do not play a lot of NFL games since I like college much, much more, but I do watch all the Ravens games with my father so I will post some plays and thoughts from time to time. I just played this as the line dropped in my favor:

Ravens -6 -120

I firmly believe the Ravens are going to come out on fire Sunday. Their offense is going back to more of the one that dominated a couple seasons ago with multiple TE formations. I also think Jackson is going to have a big year to earn that contract so I think the Ravens are going to be hard to stop. The Jets offense on the other hand is going to have some issues. Flacco will be running for his life much of the game. I see a solid Ravens victory.

I also will be playing the Panthers over Cleveland who never seems to be able to win an opening game.

Easy winner with Baltimore. I am using tonights game in a 7 point teaser with a few on Sunday:

Chargers +11/Miami +10.5/Jacksonville +11/ Saints +9.5 +200

I like this. Miami defense will give the Ravens some problems. Jax always plays Indy tough at home and the Saints always give the Bucs offense fits.

Gotta say that yesterday is a perfect example of why I really do not like the NFL.

The Ravens blow a 21 point 4th quarter lead with some of the most horrific defense I have ever seen. My Dad almost had a heart attack. Meanwhile, Harbaugh proves once again that he is one of the worst in-game coaches in the history the NFL. I have been watching this for years. His call to go for it on fourth and 1 from the 50 up 14 in the fourth likely cost them the game. Also, all this talk about Lamar Jackson, and he had a good game, but he also could not get 1 yard on two occasions which likely cost them the game also.

The Browns just implode. Chubb has to get his stats and it cost them the game. This was probably worse than the Ravens and I had them in my suicide pools.

Jameis Winston proves again he is just a dumpster fire in a really bad Saints/Bucs game. We also had Big Baby Brady whine the whole game, and low and behold, a couple calls against the Saints cost them the game. This game also cost me my posted teaser.

I had another larger teaser lose with the Raiders +4.5. Just another collapse by a team that is supposed to be decent. Never lost a bet on a fumble recovery for a TD in overtime before (and how does Renfrow fumble twice!!)

Coaching in the NFL has really gotten bad. The Denver coach is a joke. Also, when did it become right to go for 2 when you are losing by 8. Not sure anyone can explain this to me. Think I saw it twice yesterday.

Maybe I am just getting old, but the NFL is just not the same.

Sorry for the rant, but it was a really frustrating weekend.

It’s not. Rule changes are all skewed to the offense and scoring points. They think that is more desirable to defensive battles.

It’s not the same. I’m with ya

I already put this in early this morning:

Buffalo -3 -108

Can not see anyway the Ravens stop the Bills. They have serious defensive issues that simply can not be fixed. They can not rush the passer, their linebackers get pushed all over the field and their 3rd and 4th corners get beat constantly. Allen will pick them apart so I will gladly lay the FG.

Well, once again John Harbaugh proves he's a terrible in-game coach and also almost gives my aging father a heart attack. I am tired of hearing about his excuses and BS analytics. The man simply does not do his job. Also, getting sick of hearing about how great Lamar Jackson is. If he was great the Ravens would be 4-0. A great QB would not fumble on the goal line, would get the 4th and one, would score inside the 5 with 3 plays and would not throw a pick on 4th and goal to change field position. He's a good NFL QB and a weapon, but he is not elite.

Was a posted push but I also had a lot at -2.5, I will do it again this week and this is already in:

Cincy +4

Couldn't agree more. If you're satisfied winning more games then you lose, and making the playoffs if you're defense is pretty good he's your man. Above average because his ability to run is a weapon but ain't winning a super bowl and certain not elite. Will not beat a good defense. Would hate to have to decide about paying him but not a lot of choices.

Ravens win, but did not cover. Harbaugh finally kicked a FG!! Yes, the Bengals scored anyway, but if he does not kick they need a TD to win versus a FG. Ask the Bengals coach about that after he pulled a Harbaugh. They actually showed a picture of the Ravens analytical staff during the game. I fell out of my chair. Can not believe they are paying these kids to make terrible decisions. Analytics in football are BS and I will never buy into it. They do not take into account the momentum of the game, how the teams are playing, the crowd, the weather, etc. etc. etc. I just laugh that these young coaches think they can reinvent the way the game is played. All I know is about 90% of the so called analytical calls do not work out. It is about time some of these announcers and studio hosts start calling this BS out.

Okay, sorry for the rant, but this analytical crap drives me nuts.

I already put this in:

Giants +7 -139

I put this in as soon as I could get it (it was placed on Saturday morning). I really do not get this line, so maybe the Ravens are the play, but I will take a TD with any home team against them as they just can not finish teams off. I had to buy a point but I have no issues with that.

Need to vent as well. Cannot believe the announcers don't say anything. Watching the chargers/browns yesterday and that idiot staley goes for it on 4th down in his own 45, about a minute left and browns out of timeouts. I had Cleveland and was thankful but I cannot imagine any universe where that is the right call. Maybe over a million tries the math is on his favor but this isn't blackjack. It's an evy that doesn't occur often. Just ranting now because of the sheer stupidity and nobody says a word.

The Ravens are the gift that keeps giving. They have to be one of the worst coached teams in the NFL. They keep trying to prove that Lamar Jackson is a passing QB. If they would just run the damn ball they would be 6-0. I see no end to the stupidity so I already put this one in:

Cleveland +7 -127

Really do not care how bad the Browns were last week. They will come to play in Baltimore and the Ravens will keep them in the game by making stupid mistakes. I will keep playing against them until they prove they can play a complete game.

Ravens are the gift that keeps on giving. They were lucky to escape with the win as some breaks (and a bad call) finally went their way.

I can not bet against them this week though given how bad Tampa looks. They are coming off a terrible loss and have to play on Thursday night. Their offense has been bad all year. This is actually a game the Ravens should win, but not putting my money on it.

Instead I already played:

Seattle -2.5 -120

Giants have been a great story and they are winning all the close games, but I think their good fortune runs out in Seattle this week. I am impressed with what Seattle has done and shocked by how well Geno Smith has been. This is a tough spot for the Giants before two home games they should win. NFC East is benefitting from some easy schedules and I do not think any of the teams are as good as their records, but you can say that about the whole NFC as we are seeing some bad football every week.

Another easy one as the Giants were exposed for the average team that they are.

Laying off the Ravens game was a good decision but I am coming back against them this week even though it is a prime time game:

Saints +4 -119

Ravens just do not blow teams out and I think the Saints defense will keep them in this game so I will gladly take the points at home on Monday night.

I was just dead wrong about this one. Ravens played their best overall game of the season. I was actually impressed. As this team gets healthy, they are going to be tough to beat. If they commit to the run like they did in this game they will just get better. The defense was the best it has been all year, but the Saints are not very good on offense. Still, with Smith added in the middle coupled with getting a pass rush, they will be tough. Add to that that their schedule is very weak, they should win the division and get a home playoff game.

They are on a much needed Bye this week and then get Carolina at home, so no real plays with them anytime soon.

I do have a play for this week:

Miami -3 -130

Not sure why Cleveland is getting so much respect. Miami's offense is getting better and better and I do not see the Browns stopping them. I also like the Ov and Miami TT in this game.

Nice win as this line was just not right.

Already put this one in for Thursday:

Packers -2.5 -118

Now, I do not think this Packer team is that good, but the big win this week over Dallas should give them some momentum. I think this is just a good spot for them against a TN team that has trouble scoring, so I expect a home win.

Ravens line is just too high for me to consider. They should, and I emphasize should, pummel Carolina after the bye week, but I do not like laying this many points in any game.

Playing:

Jacksonville +4

This line just looks off to me. Wouldn't you think the Ravens would be bigger favorites. This is a team they always have issues with and just seems to be a let down spot for the Ravens. I will take the points.

Another gift from the Ravens!!

This Ravens team has to be one of the worst coached teams I have ever seen (yes, there are worse coaches but not with the talent this team has) Their constant coaching blunders have cost this team a few wins. They never have a plan. Every week they are a new mess on offense. Not sure I have ever seen a team pass so much on first down. Your QB is hitting at 50% and all you do is throw. Lamar Jackson is not a throwing QB!! They go up 7 in the fourth and let the other team march right down the field by never rushing more than 4 players. They are abusing a corner and you never change the coverage. The new DC is completely out of his league right now. It all starts with Harbaugh as he seems to have no control over these coordinators. Greg Roman must have incriminating pictures of him or Biscotti since I have no idea how he keeps a job.

I already played this:

Denver +8

Just a small play because Denver sucks, they can not score, but no way I lay more than a TD with this Ravens team. They play to the level of their competition and will find a way to keep Denver in this game. They should completely blow them out after the debacle this week, but they can not be trusted. This team needs some leadership!

The hits just keep on coming. At some point the odds makers have to realize that this Ravens team is not very good.

Too bad Jackson got hurt, because I would have been all over Pittsburgh + money on the opening line. Now, the Steelers will likely be favored, so I probably will lay off.
