Im trying to avoid buying gas trimmers and blower. I'm worried that the battery operated ones might not be powerful enough. I see even Stihl sells battery ones now.

Does anyone have any experience with these things?

have a ego 56 volt trimmer and also a 56 volt lawn mower. they both work great and the battery lastsfor around 45 minutes (just about time for a beer break) and takes about 30 minutes to recharge.

this brand is sold at home depot, but bought mine from ebay. they both were home depot returns and the selllers (karensbarn and also tring25) tested them and guaranteed to work or could return. when I got them they looked almost brand new.

seems like most everyone is going to the high voltage battery.

I also have a black and decker 18volt trimmer and it is a piece of shit.

Best blower by far IHMO is the Stihl backpack blower (They make different models).

I have a large yard with a lot of leaves. Just an awesome piece of equipment - best thing I have ever purchased hands down.

It is gas though. Which makes it powerful and efficient. Not sure why you would write off the whole sector - with blowers the gas ones are the best. Are there no gas stations nearby you?

Mixing gas, and changing spark plugs is a pain in the butt. If the battery is charged the thing starts every time.

I've got a corded blower and a weak black and decker battery trimmer. Both of them are junk.

FWIW, I've had my blower for 15 years and never had to change a sparkplug. Those Stihl blowers are pretty much bullet proof. You do have to mix gas and oil but I don't find that to be a big deal.

My trimmer is battery (Toro). Love it, but I also don't have a lot to trim.

ALL TRIMMERS SUCK. ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

I mow my grass and have a guy weed whack once a month for $25 a pop. It's worth it for no stress and saves my back. :0008

For the uber lazy (have done this myself) they now have the correct gas/oil ratio in cans at Home Depot :brows:

If you get a battery powered leaf blower I'd suggest getting the proper accessories. Number one on the list would be a pair of pink panties because your man card is officially repossessed.

Can Old School verify this statement? Very curious about it. I think you're right.

Old School - what about metal chains instead of string? Any experience with that?

I will say battery tech has increased 1000% over the last five years. I bet the high end ones have just as much power than gas.
