Did I read the lines right? 10 days ago it was BC -8, now it's down to 4.5?

BYU has had 3 fairly easy covers in a row in their home debut against superior teams from the East coast. Those teams clearly struggled with the altitude and ealry season travel fatigue.

Does that justify such a big line movement in this game? I'm still thinking BYU or nothing, but hate the idea that I already lost so much value.

smurphy....

there is no doubt about the home field advantage playing a factor regarding the altitude etc...

but why i will be on Bc or nothing in this game is because the o-line should dominate this game...take a look at the size of BC offensive line..couple with the fact the BYU's defense will be implementing a new 3-3-5 blitzing system coupled with the fact that thier D was 70th in the nation last year giving up 26.8 PPG

check out these numbers on O-line--
LT- 6 feet 9..330
LG--6 feet 8 ..313
c - 6 feet 4 295
RG- 6 feet 2 ..320
and RT ..6 feet 7..310

on top of that the fullback for BC Mark Palmer is 6 feet 3 ...245...with a tight end at 6 feet 5inches ..258

i have a feeling they will open up some holes in this one

that being said ...I think BC runs the ball and controls the clock at will in this one...this is not a team with one running back ..they have three (3) talented tailbacks

Andre Callender
L.V. Whitworth and A.J. Brooks

the relevance being ..that on most teams we may have to worry about the fatigue factor of a single star tailback running in that altitude...but BC can alternate backs all game long without missing a step

BYU will be better defensively and will be pumped up for home game and will have the altitude factor...

eventually however i think BC just completely wears this team down by shear strength and size and pulls away

I am not going to get into a big write up I do enough in season but you can mark this one now said on this date bc will beat byu by 10 + thin air or not. I said the same thing in spring training that the indians had a chance at the wild card and it is posted here on madjacks somewhere and i was laughed off the site by a few who live in the state of ohio, so laugh this one off also I give you the first win I hope, barring a major injury bc will roll in this game, the mtw had a team in utah who is not what you see in the mtw last few years, the mtw is weak and will be weaker from top to bottom more then last year, a few years ago you had 4-5 teams who could hold their own now you have maybe 2.5. It is a conf. that i know very well and they are going down hill fast, Like i said yes utah had a hell of a team and a few years before the mtw had 4-5 teams who could play but it has took a downwards spin last few years and will drop even more except a few teams, very weak conf. and utah will not keep them in the headlines this year and n.mex and wyoming are over rated, well wyoming might not be over rated because they have brought a once tough team back to life but will not be a top 25 team at end of the year and if they are it is because of the mtw over all is a weak conf. They are trying hard to get back to the days where the had 4-5 teams who could beat anyone on a given day but those days have dropped off last 3 years they are lucky utah had the last couple years they had, in the next 3-5 years tcu will own this conf.

BC by 10 + if they don't have any key injuries before the game. air won't be a factor bc will push byu all over the field with size and power.

take it how ever you want but bc will be a play at -7 or less.

To early to play a game you could lose to many key players between now and when the season starts. Bc will be ready trust me. And win by 10 +

Fletcher I think you are dead wrong with BC. I'll explain later in my thread but I am going with BYU for big wager. I already have BYU +5 and will be taking them on ML as well. Do you know what sportsbooks are taking ML action?

Has any single game not involving two ranked teams gotten this much attention weeks before the actual kickoff.

Darn, I'm starting to take a more serious look at this game myself.

Mendenhall not pleased with Cougars
Work to do: Coach concerned by poor execution on offense

PROVO - Two weeks away from counting, all is not well with Brigham Young's football team.
For the second time during preseason practice the Cougars played Saturday in LaVell Edwards Stadium. The one-hour scrimmage, which included a full set of referees, did not draw strong reviews from coach Bronco Mendenhall.
"From what my expectations were in terms of looking out there and seeing a quality football team executing at a high level today, we have some work to do," he said. "From what I looked at out there today didn't resemble how I'd like our team to look two weeks from now."
Mendenhall's primary concern was the team's inconsistency, particularly offensively. The first-team offense scored two touchdowns but also had two turnovers.
Against the defensive starters, the first-team offense was forced to punt after three plays on the first series. Linebacker Justin Luettgerodt and lineman Manaia Brown knocked down two passes in the opening series.
After the second-team offense scored a touchdown, defensive back Aaron Gordon stepped in front of John Beck's pass and returned the interception 23 yards for a touchdown.
"I would have hoped today our execution would have been at a higher level than what it was," Mendenhall said. "It's always great to have the officials out there. It gives you a completely different reference point for practice as to how clean we're playing. We're not playing clean right now."
Beck completed 15 of 24 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown. Second-team quarterback Matt Berry completed 10 of 14 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown.
On the second team's first series, Zac Collie took Berry's screen pass and scampered up the middle 40 yards for a touchdown.
After the interception, Beck directed a touchdown drive that Curtis Brown capped with a 2-yard run. Starting the drive with two incomplete passes, Beck connected on seven consecutive throws.
The big play was Joe Griffin's 51-yard reception off of Beck's scramble. Griffin had three receptions for 75 yards and one touchdown.
With Matt Allen being held out of the scrimmage, Griffin was on the first team. A junior college teammate of Todd Waktins, he sat out last season with a shoulder injury.
"I definitely feel like they're coming to me. When I have a chance to make a play, I want to make it," Griffin said. "You see other guys making plays and you

just want to go out there and make plays. We're all competing for spots. It definitely helps to have other guys around that are good to help push you to be better."
Working with the first-team defense, linebacker Paul Walkenhorst intercepted Jason Beck's pass late in the scrimmage. During the return Walkenhorst pitched the ball to noseguard Daniel Marquardt, who then gave it to defensive back Stephen Covey.
Covey covered the final 30 yards for the defense's second touchdown.
Asked about the wild play, Mendenhall turned the conversation to Walkenhorst. Sitting out the last two seasons with injuries and health-related issues, the former three-year starter is making his way up the depth chart.
"He's a stud," Luettgerodt said. "Paul was the man here for three years and then he had some hardships going. You've got to take your hat off to the man for staying with it this long and coming back and working his way up the lineup."
Continuing the pattern in fall camp, defensive back Dustin Gabriel left the scrimmage with a hamstring injury. A total of 11 defensive backs have been injured the last two weeks.
Safety Spencer White, the secondary's only full-time returning starter, had surgery on a broken hand and spent the scrimmage running the stadium steps with the other injured players.
"It's rough, but what are you going to do about it," Luettgerodt said. "You've got to get the next guy and hope he steps up and does his job."

In Short
l The starting offense had two touchdowns but two turnovers in Saturday's scrimmage.
l Aaron Gordon returned an intercepted John Beck pass 23 yards for a TD.
l Second-teamer Zac Collie took a screen pass 40 yards for a TD.
