I spent quite a lot of time on this event last week, and even if I fail I'd like to share my thoughts with you guys:

It's played at Atunyote instead of En-Joie - so here's some thoughts on it:
(...)Then I played Atunyote in Utica and was underwhelmed. There was nothing of interest except two good risk reward par-5s, 5 and 12, and 9, 11 and 18 were good. The rest was nothing I had not seen before. This is $175. Casino Golf - nuff said. The design was muted, the natural setting was ordinary farmland and the price was twice what it's worth . . . That's why architectural echo is an important factor in rating a golf course. It offers a way to compare courses to the greats.
Horak thinks long hitters will have an advantage "because there's ample room to drive it, and on some holes if you can carry it 290 or farther in the air you can cut off a good chunk of the doglegs and carry bunkers and things like that."

Despite Atunyote's obvious teeth, Horak thinks the winning score will be somewhere in the high teens to low 20s under par, primarily because there is plenty of room to drive the ball, and the chances are the course won't be set up brutally hard because this is a venue the players have never seen before.

My picks:
(1/4 1-5)
Gutschewski @80/1 Ladbrokes
Chris Smith @100/1 Betdirect
-both with decent stats.
Frazar @80/1 Coral
- did already take 66, likes 'casino golf', and has overcome his private trouble finally.
Coceres @80/1 SJ
- Strong player in a weak field also ok on such courses.
Tataurangi @250/1 General
- And i won't give up on him!
Muthiya @1000 Betfair Top 10 @34 SportingbetAU
- Love this guy, qualified for the Open recently, played ok on South Africa Tour, huge talent, price is amazingly high gotta try it.
Bump @1000/1 Skybet
- Father owns the course.
Every @300/1 Betdirect
- Talented College Player.
Jason Day @250/1 Sportingbet
- The best young player in Australia, made his pro debut last week finishing 67th - only 18 years old but have to try him.
Deuel @1000/1 Skybet
- NY PGA Sectional champ.
Sindelar @50/1 General
- Local lad.
Branshaw @100/1 Paddypower
- Another local lad.

May the birdie festival begin! :SIB

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Jason Bohn to win 20/1 e.w. @ Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and Boyle Sports
In a reduced field and a field that is one of the worst for several years on the PGA Tour, two of the Tour winners in the last two years stand out from the crowd. Bohn would have been playing at Hoylake had he not withdrawn a month ago to defend his B.C. Open. There really can be no doubting his motivation this week even though the event has been moved to a different course. He has been playing very well in the last month in particular, having not missed a cut since February, and in last week's John Deere Classic, he ranked 1st in driving accuracy and 10th in driving distance. With so many journeymen pros in this field, he is one player who has shown that he can win in low scoring contests and could certainly repeat Vaughn Taylor's feat in the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Ryan Palmer to win 40/1 e.w. @ BetInternet, Stan James, BetFred, Coral and GolfingGods
In terms of form, both Chopra and Ogilvie have shown very few people have been playing as well in the last three events, but their continued failings to convert a good weekend position make 25/1 appear very poor value compared to Bohn and also to Palmer, who won the 2004 FUNAI Classic with a final round 62 in a low-scoring event, which is highly likely to be the case this week. He was involved in the shootout last year, finishing 2nd behind Bohn, and he has been showing a return to that form recently. One of the bigger hitters on Tour, he should find the wide-open fairways at Atunyote to his liking and looks decent value at 40/1.

They will be ripping it apart that's certain:
2 more Plays:
Rollins 1/4 1-5 @50/1 Skybet
Rollins at 1.9 over D Wilson at Expekt
ROLLINS TIES COURSE RECORD: John Rollins came within a few inches of setting a course record at Atunyote Golf Club during Wednesday's pro-am.

Rollins' par putt on the 9th hole ? his last of the round ? rolled just right of the cup, giving him a 9-under-par 63 that tied the course record set by Craig Thomas during the 2004 Eastern PGA Club Professional Championship. His team tied for third place.

Rollins refused to look at the record-tying round as a good omen for the B.C. Open, however.

"I'm not going to go to bed tonight and think I shot 9-under and expect the same thing tomorrow," he said. "I'm just going to come out and play the way I'm going to play and enjoy the week."

In the end also had a small bet on Gabriel Hjertstedt at 250/1 1/4 1-5 Betdirect.

He is ranking pretty high in putting average on NW Tour, other stats are also ok.
Already had a 9th place on PGA Tour this year in the Chrysler Classic.
Playing a bit of a hit or miss season on NW, but once he is in contention he won't let it slip away too easily.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it!
Now let's just hope Phil catches a good weekend - as he knows how to win such low scoring events - 10/13/02 Invensys Classic at Las Vegas 1 67 66 67 68 62 330 -29 $900,000.00 - here's his latest entry on his homepage:
Thanks to couple of weeks at home in Dallas I arrived in the big smoke of Moline,Illinois rested and recharged for the John Deere Classic. Unfortunately my game didn't reflect all of the good work I had been putting in the previous weeks back home. I shot rounds of 76 and 72 to miss the cut easily but walked away Friday feeling like I had actually played some fairly good golf over the 2 days. Weird eh? Well I made 3 doubles which racks things up pretty quickly. I put that down to hittting a couple of bad tee shots on the wrong holes. That kind of knocks the confidence a bit and puts a bit of extra pressure on the rest of my game. I could go on but that's not my style. I played well enough to score better than I did!!!!

This week I'm playing the BC Open in upstate New York and look forward to making some birdies myself.

Summary:
Gutschewski T6
C Smith T24
Frazar T24
Coceres T66
Tataurangi MC
Muthiya T41
Bump MC
Every T46
J Day MC
Deuel MC
Sindelar MC
Branshaw T4
Rollins 1st
Hjerstedt T6
Matches: Rollins over D Wilson WON by 10 strokes

I think I should be happy with that, Branshaw made the birdie on 18 to finish T4th and get the full place odds, otherwise I'd have had 3 players on a 5th place with 7. :SIB
