Looking real hard at BC. Was last week a look past UCONN with revenge on their minds for losing 1st game last year against Stanford. Also BC returns many with Stanford losing a lot of defensive players. Stanford has new coach and new coaches generally don't fair well in 1st game on the road. Any thoughts on this game? :talk:

I think I also like BC as they are a good revenge team, not all are. BC is 9-0 ATS since 98 revenging a loss of more than 14 points. Last year Stanford won 38-22 in Stanford. But watch out, Stanford is14-4 as a dog the last three years ATS. Quarterback Chris Lewis will put up some points in this game for Stanford. I think the new coaching situation and the fact Stanford only returns 3 on defense is the factor that would make me go with the Eagles here. This is also Stanfords first game of the year while BC has one under their belt. I'm taking BC -8:D

Stanford QB Lewis is suspended for this one. The Tree will either start a rFR QB, or a So QB that's thrown 8 passes in his entire collegialte career. Just thought I'd let you know.

From what I read on Stanford site, Kyle Matter (rs frosh) will start for the Cardinal.

Matter came to Stanford as one of the most highly sought-after preps in the nation following the 2000 season ... He was a consensus prep All-America after completing 287-of-439 for 3,754 yards and 33 touchdowns his senior season ... SuperPrep Magazine rated him as the fifth best QB prospect in the nation and No. 30 on their list of the country's Elite 50 recruits

Stanford has experience on the OL & TE, all their receivers are back & a FB w 33 starts. The kid should have protection and targets to throw to. I feel this team will use Ty Willingham's departure as motivation for this season.

I dont think BC had a look ahead mentality v UConn. They just aren't very good! 4-13 on 3rd down conv., only 108 yds on 34 carries, UConn soph QB completed 24 passes for 198 yds. Their D wont hold Stanford to 41 yds rushing.

BC has a senior QB going against all new LBs & 2ndary personnel for the Cardinal so they should put up their share of pts as well. I give the P10 team the advantage in an offensive shootout!

Stanford +8'
Stanford/BC O53

ps -- kebbyc, how many of those 9 revenge games had BC favored after losing by 14+ pts the yr before! I would think not many. What is their SU record in those games?

Eagles have covered the spread in 13 straight home games when not laying 23 points or more.

mansa-musa, good question, my info doesn't have details of each situation but I have some games of revenge but have no ATS #'s to back it up. I'm guessing these may have been some of the situations where they lost straight up but won outright the following year.
97 lost to GTech 14-42 98 won 41-31
98 lost to W Virg 10-35 99 won 34-17
98 lost to Syracuse 25-42 99 won 24-23
99 lost to Pitt 26-42 00 won 45-7
00 lost to W Virg 14-34 01 won 34-10
They seem to play revenge much better at home which is where this game is. Hope this helps a little, either way, best of luck with your desicion.:D

Thanks for the reply, kebbyc!

It scares me a little that only one of the revenge games you mentioned went above the posted total for this game. Think they were probably favored in 3-4 of those games.
