A South Boston man who claims to be an associate of fugitive reputed crime boss James ``Whitey'' Bulger was indicted yesterday for allegedly swindling money from an elderly woman by promising he could find her son, who disappeared years ago while working in the Cayman Islands.
Edward MacKenzie, 43, allegedly posed as a former Navy SEAL who headed up a team of former military special services. Suffolk County prosecutors charge that MacKenzie conned a 71-year-old woman out of $33,000 by convincing her he worked for the federal government finding missing persons.
