Baylor -8 or -9 over North Texas
Hate going against my boys here but they lost their 2nd best player in Hopkins.he is there 2nd leading scorer and 1st in assits and steals. When you loose your playmaker you could be in some trouble. He broke his foot in the Colorado loss.
Davis has come alive again and is avg 17 pts and 7 bds.But here is a guy lyr who was 10th in the nation in scoring avg 22 pts.He has been inconsistent and frusrtated when teams double him or deny him the ball.Green is avg 12 pts and Juco transfer and former baylor Degrate is avg 7 pts and 4 bds.
But inside the paint NT can't score or defend.Their post players are avg a combined 4 or 5 pts a game.
BU is coming of a 7 pt loss to Smoo. They are also hurt'in.Thomas and Othero have been hurt.Roberts their stud has a nagging leg injury. If all were 100% I would love this game.
Sayman and Lucas at the pt are solid. But Swanson,Roberts,Gunn and Othero are all 6'8,6'9 and 6'10 and 6'11.Thats a huge front line.NT has no one to stop that. And if NT packs a zone in their is Taylor who can shoot the 3 hit 5 the other nite. And lets not forget Thomas and Dotson at 6'7 who can score.
Thomas is a slasher and should help out in the perimeter.
Bliss has a lot of talent. But they play poorly together. He is not a very good bench coach. He had a lot of talent at Smoo too_One thing for sure .His hair is plasterd down with "gel"and if a Waco tornado swept into Ferrell center not a hair would move.
He coached at Army many moons ago.Was the girls coach.Knew him very well.
Both teams lost to TCU and Smoo.Almost the same except BU lost to Smoo by 7 and NT by 13.
NT has lost the last 10-11 vs Baylor.Last 3 yrs the scores were 95-81,88-63,and 91-74.
NT is 1-3 as a RD this yr[but lyr 11-6 as a dog]
Bears win this by double digits.NT w/o Hopkins will have a hard time adjusting handling the ball and inside game will be so dominate in the Bears favor.
Strong play on this game.
Am capping Cuse,Bama, and Penn game. Will be back later

gridiron,
I really don't keep records. When I have a bad day I'll throw that record out for the day.Thats just to warn people to stay away from me.
Capping is crazy as you know.Keeping records is fine for some people.I personally like it when I read someone is 6-1 or 8-2,etc.We all like to follow the "hot capper'.
I just post my plays and make suggestions.I'm no better then anyone here.I know my posts are "long ass" boring ones but I type very fast. Most of my homework has been done over the summer.Of course everything has to be updated like records and injuries, trends, etc
I think my stronger plays do better though. But last week one day, I think I went 0-4 on strong plays and 5-1 on the med plays.
I do plan ahead though. There are 3 games i like next week.
NT-Baylor was somewhat capped 4 weeks ago.But injuries have such a big factor. With Baylor being banged up I was weary. But then Hopkins gets hurt and that changes everything.
Anyway hope your doing good on your picks.GL

Thanks for answering my question, I just like following good handicappers and I really suck capping basketball. I llok forward to your write ups they are really a excellent source of information.
Do you have any opinion on Yale getting 12 vs Stanford, seems to me to be too many points.

Hey Box........

Hey Box........

How are ya??
Hope all is well and you're making the big $ on these eastern teams.
Havent been here as often as I used to be and basically stopped posting except for blurbs here and there.
I do pop in to read your stuff each day (its real good) although I sometimes go the other way (Ffld./ Fordham) they have it going now and its tough to stop a team with that Winning MO. Fordham in the other direction........whatever
Ajou Deng has not played yet but dresses now
Cousin Deng Gai 6 10" 250 is a presence defensively (big help)
Freshmen are playing big.....Maxwell plays like he is 6 8" hits dd and rebounds...... Oscar Garcia goes down and is not missed ...
Maybe GOOD things for Timmy O'T.........about time ...he deserves them.

Uconn is getting scary (they're so good) still young but GOOD and they all want the ball. I'm glad St Bonnies has been playing well
Well see how Ct handles a better team......Have you seen them at all this year...... Top to bottom ........most talent in the Big East ...imho. They have4 ......who will be 40% from 3 ...Okafor..is in a class by himself......From what I've seen Frosh Marcus White who got first pt when Hazleton transferred will replace Hayes + Tooles eventually. He plays STRONG and likes to block shots and run the floor......Calhoun's biggest problem is getting everyone enough pt to keep em all happy.

Will talk more when conference play heats up!

Mississippi State on a roll of late and and could letdown tonight
In any event they are probably an overlay here by at least a couple of points based on Oklahoma game.

So............my play tonight is So. Alabama

Good Luck

wouldn't bet against the dawgs

wouldn't bet against the dawgs

I guess i am being a homer here....but i would never bet against the bulldogs....I'm really not being a homer bc i bet against our football team all season long

These guys work very well together as a team that revolves around Austin. They did not shoot that well against Okla. and still came away with a 9 pt. victory. Defense is key and they always play it well. Could easily see them winning this one by 20+. All it will take is one good 5 minute run. Not saying bet on the dogs...just saying i would never bet against them.

Another team i would never bet against is Texas Tech.

Some thoughts out loud.

Peace

Talk about lines changing.Since there is no school I got on here early and played the lines.Almost everything changed.I liked Penn +4,then it went down to 3 and now 2.5
Baylor was -8.5,then 9,then 10 then 10.5 and now back to -10.Cuse was -18 to 19 to 20 to 20.5.
Anyway I'll pass on the Penn-Providence game.Had a long write up but will send it to cyberspace.I liked 4 pts.Even though Penn has had a nice layoff and Augustin returns I thought this game would go down to the wire.

Bama at -1 to now pick'im
Utes at home are awesome.Majerus is great, etc, etc.I like a team that has a pt gd that can play on enemy grounds.Mo Williams makes this team play.He will not be rattled on the floor.Maybe he won't hit his new and improved jumper up in the mountains but he will do everything else.Bama has greyhounds everywhere.Walker,Thomas,etc.El Dud is avg 14 pts and 10 bds a game.
Utah is playing solid ball. But Johnson might not even play tonite.I think at the pt gd they will have trouble.
Bama has to many greyhounds.Speed,athletic,etc.Bama wins this one with Mo

Cuse -20 over Canisius
Cuse is blowing people away.Boe is letting his starters play 35 minuts a game.He is also playing more man/man defense then ever.Mallory is a zone breaker.he can shoot all day.But Dux who is a good pt gd will have trouble penetrating the 2-3 or man.Griffs just don't have enough players.Carmelo,Mac,Warrick,Duany,etc.Cuse's only weakness is at the post. And the Griffs have no threat there. There scoring in the 90's now and just destroyed Ga tech.Griffs lost at Bonnie by 18.Think Orange win this by 25.Other then Mallory there is no outside threat.

Montana St -5 M St has won there own tourney 7 of the last 8 yrs.C'mon.Home crowd, refs calls, etc.Home cooking in the making.Hopefully there are different refs tonite then last nites Siena game. Over 55 fouls and 69 FT's.
Montana runs the delibrete offense.Works the ball around, looks for the open shot, etc. They are a talented team. They beat Wash in there gym.Conway has scored 27 and 28 pts in his last 2 games. There best player hurt his wrist bad but will play.Erickson was POYr of conf lyr.
I like Siena a lot.But I think playing the home team could be trouble. This team went to the NCAA's.Small play on the home team.

So Bama +11 over Miss St
Small play.I luv this team. The Williams, there style and new coach. But they have no one in the middle and Miss St with Mario back is awesome inside.I'll grab the pts but its a small play.
I think Texas -18{?} blows away La Tech
After frustrating Princeton game,Barnes is going to take it out on someone.

Strong play is still Baylor -10[now]
Bama and Cuse -Med
small plays Montana St,,Texas, and So Bama

Bear,I'll respond later to you.
hammybear-your probaly right about Miss St.They do look tough. But for a small play I'll take the underdogs from Mobile.
