Bellarmine +5 over Pepperdine **
You gotta love this D-2 powerhouse that is playing in its 1st yr or 2nd yr in D-1. These guys are always in the final 4 of the D-2 championships and a few yr ago won the whole thing. Their coach Davenport coached HS in Louisville and then became an asst under Pitino. He has been at Bel for 8 or 9 years and has established the best run motion offense in the country. They just beat Army in the 1st round of the CBI and Army is still trying to figure out who was guarding who ..They rank 3rd in the country in scoring and FG%. They shoot over 50% in FG.. Thats almost impossible. But with there back door cuts and motion inside that are shooting maybe 3 feet from the basket getting 2 ft shots or layups. There can hit from the 3 but they aren't a team shooting over 50% .. Not sure if they keep a stat on layups from back door cuts or post entry and players cutting to the basket when the post almost hands off for a running layup to a cutter.. When they played Duke there were down 28-23 and I swear every basket they made was from 3 feet .. Duke front line size finally took over. They have a 6'7 inside -outside scorer in Bradshaw, Penn,Fleming all avg in double digits. Cut,screen, cut screen cut fake cut outside dump inside, back door .. bounce pass lay up.. Wave has way more talent and 4 of there 12 losses were to the Zaga's and BYU's . Both teams records vs the spread are good. Not sure wave have the discipline on defense.. Wave can out run,out rebound, out shoot, out jump and are much more athletic. But think the wave breaks when some one fakes the pass and the other guy goes back door for a layup. Love coaches like Davenport who has been around for a long time and has no ambition to move up . Because he knows basketball A little worried Pepper coach watched this team and has a game strategy to slow the Knights down.
If I was Davenport I would get a copy the Blue Ribbon book and show how this book is the bible of college hoops and they omitted our school We aren't even mentioned.. Then I would get a copy of Lindy'sSports College Preseason Magazine and show the Atlantic Sun predictions. Liberty was picked 4th and we all know what they did, But the Bellarmine Knights were predicted dead last 8 th place. And a guy named Ken Pom who is considered a god among college handicappers didn't even know our nickname was the Knights.{ I made that up}
But some guy named box and one is not only predicting we keep this game under the 5 pts but we might upset this left coast team.

Coastal -7 over Stetson *
I love Coastal and Devonte But 7 is a lot. Going with my Sun Conf buddy and the coach Cliff Ellis looks older then Loyola nun in her wheelchair . Not sure if Devonte can carry Coastal .. so a small small play Ellis - over to make the 40 minutes coaching.. the under is 3000 to 1 . But I don't wish anyone harm.

thanks Buddy . one thing I can remember is that pepperdine campus . when I think it was NBC had those crazy superstar contests outside. i always wanted to know where they were being played.. it was on the campus of Pepperdine . What a campus ..I know the Ross kid is big time. Wave have a good back court and those guys played well against the Zaga's and BYU's but playing a team like Bellarmine is a pain in the ass. Talent there is no question the Wave have it over the Bells. And motion offensives are beatable but the Knights are precise. Although different then the Princeton motion it gives teams that athletically aren't in the same boat a better chance. Good coaches can figures ways to neutralizes motion or flex ..We played every year in our league a Catholic powerhouse and they ran flex and motion ...it took me awhile after getting beat by it to figure out how to defeat it. I would love to see there 6'5 top rebounder and scorer at the free throw line running screens that far away from the basket. We would face gd him and box him out up there, kinda shadow him outside keep him away from the paint for an offensive rebound. Also don't over play the passing lanes and think back door. A back door layup is about 97% FG ..
But Lorenzo the coach isn't reading this post so I'm confident his Pepper players will be chasing these no names kids all game good luck though

Lord of Balls....not sure if you're kidding or not but that's literally been my job for the last 2-3 decades!

East Coast campus...do more than just change light bulbs but yeah...I do maintenance in the dorms. It was my student job for years and my permanent job for almost 2 decades now. I can't say that the pay is great but not too bad...the benefits are good...and the job itself is awesome!

A whole lot of variety, not behind a desk all day, and oh yeah the college girls :)

It's been a lot of fun and I sure miss being younger but I've kept myself in good shape and relatively young looking. We have student workers and we always get more guys but it's been pretty close to 50/50 the last several years. I always tell people that with this job...sometimes I feel really young and sometimes I feel really old lol

But yeah I've changed many a light bulb just for the east coast babes!

Very interesting ... . .

Very interesting ... . .

I noticed that two MJers in here that have similar interests like I do/did and also among the very few players that give Oral the nod for today's game like I did. I know TD and Box have the patience and brains to get through a short story/long paragraph and may enjoy something that I think you may like.

Here goes:
Living in N.J.,I was a happy bachelor well into my 30s and did some chick hunting in my days of having fun. I can tellyas that my betting sports success was a bit better than my chick catcher record was in N.J. I was between jobs and my Mom suggested I come down and stay with her in Sunny Fla.and perhaps find a job down here. I took her advise partly due to the fact that I had an interview in Atlanta and that would serve the trip down south well. I also read that Atlanta was a "gold mine for chick hunters".;)

Well, I drove down here and only stopped for a quick, lukewarm burger or hot dog along the way.Got me a nice hotel room in Atlanta and had a couple of days before my job interview. I was hungry as all hell and looking for a GOOD dinner and found one in the paper that was a 4 star restaurant and night club all in one place, that suited me just fine. :0034 <--- HUNGRY like WOLF

I drove there and it was a really nice place, You walk in the door, restaurant on the left and night club on the right. I made a quick left. The wall was all mirrors and the tables for 2 to 4 people along it. I got me a good steak dinner and focused on that until my chair (on wheels) started to move away from the table. I turn around and there were 4 chickidies at the table in back of me and one of them was pulling my chair to their table. Three of them were GOOD L00kers too. They told me they were from Louisiana and do their Christmas shopping in Atlanta. I finished my steak and their diner arrived and I said I'm going to stop in the night club and get a drink and maybe I'll see you there and they replied, "Great".

OK, I find a seat next to two more chickidies at the bar and start a conversation with them. Did the:11jackson thang with one and they said, "Let's move away from the band (too loud) and sat at an area with those tall round tables with stools around them.

Ok,the funniest part -
I notice that straight ahead in front of me was another gal on the other side that was starring and starring at me? I was thinking, "maybe somebody from N.J.?". After about 15 mins. she gets up starts walking toward our table and says loudly to the two girls at our table, "Tell him to go home with his wife where he belongs" and storms out the door. YIKES! I was single at that time. I did figure out who she was ..... she's one of the chicks I was with in the restaurant side. OH YEAH I started praying I'd get that Atlanta job, I didn't :(

Moral to this - remember the song, "Different strokes for different folks"? Just add to the end of that,"IN DIFFERENT PLACES".

G.L. with them bawlers today.

Box........... That show from the late 70's early 80's was called............

BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STAR'S!!!!!!

Great show!!!

And you see correct, it was a Pepperdine!

From my house, it is about 35 minutes away.

Beautiful coastline from there, all the way up through Oxnard.......... And outside of Zuma Beach not crowded like the others South of there.

Thank you for the reply, oxnardca1; reading that made it all worthwhile for me to write it. Looks to me that you have good taste to where you choose to make your residence. I am enjoying Fla. for the past 25 yrs. and wonder if things are the same these days in Atlanta. Rest assured there wouldn't be any chick pulling on my chair these days.

Private messages is the place for these conversations; too bad they're gone so lets "talk" Basketbawls.

I had mixed emotions with that last shot in the Oral Roberts game, if he hit that last shot to win that game I would have been sooo happy as a fan and verified what I thought about that team. But, I woulda wanted to kick myself in the ass for not betting the $line on them.
Had a good day yesterday and just checked out what's up for today. Not coming up with anything that I have much confidence about. Maybe I'll find something in the later games and add or post it in MY thread so I don't interfer in Box's thread.
Somehow, he has attracted quite a few classy players like you in here.

ENJOY sunny Cal. and I'll do the same in this ''Sunny Cal."of the east coast. Best luck with the BBers.

Hey Jim!

I take it, you ended up staying in Florida then?
And I'm sure you hit up the club/restaurant.... Remember all different aspects are available!
And yes. I was born in the next county north of Los Angeles.
The mild weather on the coast year around is like no other place in the US.
As an FYI my son goes to The University of Central Florida. He's in his Jr year and I'm heading out there to go see him, w my daughter next week! I'm looking forward to getting us together. The Cold Springs are calling out to me!!!

Anyways Hoops...........
The Box has the BEST write up's and background in this board.
Always enjoyable and informative reading!

That Oral Robert's game..... I had the Over, and was hoping Arkansas misses that last shot, to likely force the over, in the over time.

I swear to God this is a true story.when I was a young punk at Carolina I went to a bar called THE STUDY HALL right off campus .Walked in the place was packed..elbow to elbow and walked up to the bar to get a cocktail where a guy I knew was sitting on a bar stool and said Buddy I'm getting ready to leave you want this stool.Since there was a goodlooking chick sitting right there I said hell yes brother...LOL
I'm chatting up this friendly gorgeous girl and she tells me she is a Ballerina. BOOM I'm thinking I have a fantasy to be with a Ballerina so I'm really chatting her up.Im buying her drinks and Blah blushing and we start taking shots...LOL The bar stool I was sitting on had rings on it and for some damn reason I had hooked my two feet on the bottom rung.Just as I killed a shot leaning a little backwards this big burly football player elbows into the bar and I fall straight backwards onto the floor with my feet hooked into the ring I'm laying on the floor and two dudes reach down and grab under each arm and pull me and the chair back up to the bar...LOL it looked liked I had choreographed this whole deal...LOL The Ballerina says damn Buddy that's the coolest thing I've ever seen. I said not missing a beat I do it all the time when I come here...LOL Yep I'll leave the rest of the night to you boys imaginations but I did check off hooking up with a Ballerina that night..and it was Marvelous....LOL
