Toe to toe slugfest....These guys were whistling haymakers from the open bell....Many dramatic shifts in momentom.....Both guys on the canvas...and howard Cosell calling the action. I have it on tape if anyone needs a copy.

As for fights I've watched (not in person), Hopkins-Trinidad was a great fight.

Bowe-Holyfield, I think II, back in Fall 92 (or spring 93) was a good fight.

Trinidad-Vargas wasn't too bad, with knockdowns from both fighters and a KO in the 12th. Trinidad was clearly the better fighter, though.

Those come to mind, I'm probably leaving something out.

I won more money on Lewis-Rahman I, than any other fight, so that's memorable. Won $ on the re-match, too.

I'm not gonig to claim these fights are hagler-hearns or ali-frazier or ali-foreman quality. Those were just before I started watching boxing.

Worst fight I've ever seen from good fighters: Tua-Lewis. What a dog.

Shrimp, I was just about to post the Bowe-Holyfield trilogy myself. Those were great fights.

Buster Douglas and Mike Tyson! I do love a good underdog!

I really enjoyed how Buster put an ass whippin on the once invincible Mike " Rambling Rapist " Tyson. I remember sitting there watching in disbelief how Tysons ole jaw bounced off the canvas and Buster had this I can not believe I just knocked this SOB out look on his face! Man it was great! And I got to see every second of it Live............On TV of course, I was but a mere child!

The first Ali vs.Frazier was the best fight I have seen. The fight took place in 1971 in Madison Sq.Garden & was on close circuit at some movie theaters. This fight was filled with emotion from the time the fight was first announced right on thru a few days after the fight.
This was Ali's first major fight after coming back from "exile" that was imposed on him for his refusal to get involved in the Viet Nam War.Frazier was a person who basically followed the rules. So, this fight was a match of the establishment vs. the anti-establishment.In those days it was hip to be anti everything, the gov't.VietNam War,parents, etc.Students & minorities were for Ali,The white establishment ,including the parents, was for Frazier. There was alot of tension in the air.
Usually when a sporting event has a massive build-up,the event turns out to be a dud.Not with this fight.Ali was jabbing Frazier to death,Frazier was trying to kill Ali with left hooks. It seemed that for every punch that Frazier landed,Ali got 10 in.As the fight went on,Frazier's face became severely swollen,it looked like his eyes were shut close. But he wouldn't stop his relentless stalking of Ali.He finally connected & Ali went down.Half of the audience was stunned & the other half went crazy with joy.But Ali got up.I think right there he won the respect of most of the establishment. He showed guts.Frazier,as everyone knows, won the fight.
After the fight there were a lot of rumors circulating, about the health of both of these fighters.Ali's right side of the face was badly swollen, while Frazier's was lumpy.
Many people have said that the thriller in Manilla was a better fight, but for the emotion of the times, I feel that this was the best fight of all time. But that is just my opinion.

I saw that one myself....I have to agree.....but the thriller was
damn good too.....those were absolutely the best of boxing
days....ALI, SUGAR RAY, the best of all time as far as I'm
concerned.....that's back when boxing was for real....;)

So many great ones to remember - Hearns/Hagler 3 rounder has to be in everybody's top ten just for excitement alone. What an epic back/forth battle. I would have to take Ali/Frazier 2 as the best of rest and probably classic of all time. Two boxers with a legitimate dislike for each other that both literally died trying to win. These are great topics because they bring back such fantastic memories.

Probably nobody else will remember these...

May 20, 1990 Tony "The Tiger" Lopez wins a 12 round decision over Juan "John-John" Molina.

Sept 22, 1990 Tony "The Tiger" Lopez wins a 12 round decision over Jorge Paez

Lopez liked to lead with his face and that made for some interesting fights.

I also remember a few fights with Troy Dorsey, another face leading bruiser. He's the only man to hold world titles in boxing and Karate.

Johnny Tapia was also one of my favorites to watch. He was covered with tattoos before that came in vogue.

I would much rather watch these little guys fight that watch the big oafs stumble around the ring.

Gotta agree with this one. By far the most exciting fight I have ever seen!! I would love to get a copy of that tape twofingers;) I've been wanting it on tape for some time now. Words just can't describe the action in this fight.

When your as old as I am, have seen some real great ones. Have seen some so bad you wish you were watching paint dry.
Either one of the Ali, Frazier fights. I believe his name was Bo Bo Olson. Saw a few of his fights. They were all tough ones. Seemed like everyone came out of the ring with Blood on them including the Ref's. For best Clever fight. Ali over Forman. Poor Forman just wore him self out. And Ali got him.

I was only a kid, but i do remember an epic battle on friday nite fights between Carmen Basillio and Sugar Ray Robinson. That was another of my favorites. Anybody remember another pug from that time, Joey Giardello? He was one of my favorites as a real youngster. Unfortunately, I think he might have ended up in the can after punching out a gas station attendant. Another great match I vaguely remember involved Canadian heavyweight George Chuvalo. I think there were at least 11 or 12 knockdowns in this fight. I am not 100% sure who it was against, it may have been Foreman. I know Chuvalo fought Frazier, Ali, Foreman, Quarry and others.
