do u guys remember that one bet that was unforgettable in your gambling career. i mean till this day u guys still bring it up sometimes and tell stories about. i sure have a few. heres one of em

it was the 1996-97 season and the denver nuggets were a lousy team but they were fav against the hornets by 1.5 at home. thisa was my first big bet i had ever made on sports. i made a ($3300) play on "denver" for some reason LOL so i remember im sitting in the sportsbook and watching this damn game, fastforward to the end of the game with 3 seonds left DENVER is down 1 and im thinkg fock there goes my money. so they have the ball at half court im thinking they go for the 2 pointer and either make it and win or miss and take the loss, but there was this one guy who i still see on tv and puts smile on my face when i see him and brings back memories from that one evening. ok so anyway 3 secs left they inbound the ball KENNY SMITH gets it and just thorws the ball falling away from the basket from behind the 3 point line and my heart came to my throat the room started spinning and all i saw was nothing but net and everybody in the sportsbook is all pisst off cause they obviouly had the hornets(they were good that yr i think from what i remember, well atelast alot better than denver)and i was the only idiot who had DENVER but i was a idiot with $3000 more in pocket. i was so happy i was high fiving people i didnt even know. it was carzy :mj14: .

so im sure u guys have stories too, don't be shy to share. im sure everyone would love ot hear and remenise those experiences :)

Since my gambling career is brief, I have to go back to this season.

I was down a lot of cash from poker(i'm a good live player, but for some reason it doesn't translate that well online.) so I needed a big win. I had the Sonic-2.5 against the Bulls. Now even though I have NBA League Pass, I hate to watch the games I bet on because every shot by the opposing team seems to rip my stomach apart. Anyway, the Sonics are down by 16 points in the 3rd quarter. I had $480 on the game and was worried. Suddenly.....the Bulls decided to stop doing what they were winning with and jack up threes. They were ice cold, Nocioni was nothing. Reggie Evans got about a million defensive rebounds and the Sonics eventually won the game. On that day, I decided that I would NEVER bet on the sports again.

We know how that decision went. :mj07:

you guys remember that baseball sundaynight game with the indians and mariners.that year the mariners were a money machine and had i think a 9 run lead in the 8th??and the indians came back and won it. had some $$ on that .woke up the next day and thought they messsed up my balance.one of the reasons baseball is my favorite sport to bet NO CLOCK,makes for some facinating wins and losses.

Wayyy too many........

1. Had over 10.5 in a Rangers/Tribe game many years ago. Tribe got a 10 spot in second inning. Won 10-0

2. Dollar wise - had Cincy +6.5 in East Regional v UNC. They blow a huge lead. Rasheed Wallace misses a dunk that would have won it in regulation. UNC held to 7 points in OT - unfortunately Cincy hit the big goose egg.

3. Dollar wise good - Jacksonville blocks Pittsburgh FG for biggest backdoor cover of your life on Monday Night Football

I went to vegas on a convention and lost 10,000. I called my wife back in Texas and told her to catch the next flight out because I knew I was on a losing streak and she could keep me off the tables. She came. On the way back to texas all she said was "I can't believe you lost 10,000 dollars". I HATED that. As soon as I got back to Texas I went to my office and booked a flight back to Vegas and took 1000.00 with me. I was at Ceasears playing black jack at 5am in the morning with my flight leaving that morning and only had 300 of the thousand left. Cards started coming and I couldn't lose. I worked the three hundred up to $48,000 in my shark like eating frenzy and didn't realize it. They were changing dealers on me every 10 minutes. I bet $25,000.00 in one had with their permission. I was dealt Jack/king. The dealer had a 5 showing and turned over a king and hit a six and took my 25 grand. I quit and went home with 23,000. My wife told me when I got back to pack my bags, but changed her mind when I started throwing hundred dollar bills at her..This happen in 1982....

Sun Tzu - I remember that MNF backdoor blocked FG cover but I had thought it was Seattle winning over Pitt. Yeah, that one sure seemed over as no matter whether Pitt hit the FG or not they would cover and it was the last play of the game. That was sweet.

That is what blows about baseball betting. Works the other way too. My brother loaded on Braves about 10 years ago at Colorado and trailed 1-0 when game was called right about the minimum innings. Braves were good about winning games late that year too.

No.......It was Jackassville. I had Pittsburgh, so I remember it quite well! I still can see Cower cocking his fist back, ala Woody Hayes, to punch the guy running past him, en route to the touch down!

I remember "having the luxury" of not caring if the field goal was made, or missed. No time on the clock, and the spread would not be affected by the 3 points. I even laughed out loud. "Only a blocked attempt taken all the way can screw me!"

That was one of three "fantastic finishes" on MNF in three straight weeks that season, and I was on the back end of all three.

Best back door cover was in college football Minny a few years ago at home favored by 6' - Their down 3 on their own 10 with 20 sec - the guy throws a hail mary to like the other teams 30 with 2 sec left no time out they run the kicking team out (stop the clock fo r a 1st down) make the kick - head to overtime minny scores a td and an INT on the next play - i was jumping up and down

Worst getting backed doored - 2 years ago the TB Bucs had the game in hand and manning threw like 3 or 4 tds in the last 2 mins to win - still makes me sick

On the course!
Sept. 8, 1997 Kansas City 28, OAKLAND 27
Sept. 15, 1997 DALLAS 21, Philadelphia 20
Sept. 22, 1997 JACKSONVILLE 30, Pittsburgh 21

I am pretty sure that these are the games I got bitch slapped on that season.

I know the Pitt game was +2', and they were trailing 21-23 before the 30-21 finish. I want to think the Dallas game invovled a fumble or INT in the endzone, taken all the way back.

I don't remember the KC game, but I remember throwing my remote through the wall........

I remember being at a roullette table, at one point I hit 14 out of 15 numbers. Over a span of 30 numbers, I had hit 24 of them. The casino was doing everything possible, change rollers, changed the ball (twice). sped the wheel up, took exta long to pay... everything. The best part about it was I played the same 10 numbers everytime, so they couldn't even say anything. At one point there were two pit bosses watching the table. They were watching me like I was doing something

I have had some great (lucky) covers, but it always seems to be the losses that stick out more.

Had Pitt on a Monday night, I think the line was 5 and they were up 6, 4th down on their own 2 yard line with only seconds left. Go to punt formation and take the safety with by 4... that was a killer

In a college game, I remember betting against UCLA (can't remember the other team). Anyway I was getting 10 or 11 points and the games goes to overtime... can't lose right... wrong, UCLA scores a TD on their possesion and the intercepts the ball and returned it 80 yds, to win by 13.

I will never forget the NFL Monday Night Football game on December 22, 2003. Green Bay was in Oakland getting 6 points and Brett Favre?s father had passed away the day before the game. Favre held a team meeting Sunday night to let the team know that he would be playing because that is what his father would have wanted.

All day Monday, gamblers everywhere were speculating on how Brett?s play would be affected knowing how close the Favre men were. I decided to place a $1,000 wager on the Packers in the belief that Brett would be playing this one for Dad.

As I am sure all remember, Favre had the game of his life and began the game by completing his first nine passes including a 23 yard touchdown. His receivers also played their hearts out and it seemed like every pass completion was a circus catch. Favre passed for a personal best, 311 yards and four TDs in the first half and at halftime the Packers led the Raiders by a score of 31-7. I knew like everyone else watching the game that we I was witnessing something special. I checked with my offshore book for a halftime line and was surprised that they kept the original halftime line of Oakland -3. I didn?t even have to think twice before doubling my original wager and the rest is history.

With a series of spectacular long passes that somehow found his receivers, Favre destroyed the Raiders' secondary with one of the greatest performances in his 14 year career. The day after his father?s death, Bret Favre passed for 399 yards and four touchdowns in the 41-7 victory, finishing just 3 yards shy of his career high and moving himself into second place in NFL history for career TD passes.

i remember back in 2001 i had a moneyline parlay with UCLA in ncaaBB, last game of reg season, UCLA up 2 points with clock tticking down. they were playing Washington ST. doormat of pac 10 that year and a horrible team. im thinking just chuck up a garbage shot and that will be it.....ass crack for wash st makes a 3 pter hail mary falling out of boubds to fawk me on the moneyline -500. I lost 1000 on that one. really hurt.

Another 1 back in 1999 or 2000 I had a 3300 parlay riding on lat game Miami/St Johns Big East tournament over 126 pts. 3 minutes left score was 60-59. I was fired up !! woo hoo !! i could taste the $$. a plethora of missed layups and jumpers i find myself at the same score with 1 min left. so im thinking they will foul and ill get the over on FT's. last min 1 got 1 fawking FT. Final score 61-59 !!!!
i was ripped !!!!

as far as totally improbably goes, i was actually on the right side of this one in the MAAC a few years ago.

it was niagara against one of their conference foes.
i dont remember who it was.

but niagara was laying -1.5 for the first half.

they were down by 2, and had the ball with 5 seconds to go before halftime.

theres simply no way possible i can win. theyre obviously playing for the last shot. a 2 doesnt cover for me. a 3 doesnt cover for me.

well they run the clock down, take a shot with under 1 second to go...and get fouled.

big deal.

im laying -1.5 and niagara is still down 2 with under 1 sec left.

first free throw good.
second free throw good.

tie game.

on the ensuing inbounds pass, the opponent tries to throw a home run pass but one of the offensive guys inexplicably pushes off and gets called for a foul.

niagara goes back to the line.

makes the first.
makes the second.

they go into the half up two and cover my -1.5 1h bet.

not a marquee game. not a huge bet for me. but just something that you might never see again (4 points in less than a second, on two separate possessions)
