As much as it rips my heart out to say it. . . the OU loss helps the Div. 1 college championship argument. No matter what happens tomorrow in the BCS, all three teams in the top 3 will have a legitimate argument to play for the championship in New Orleans.
Point of information #1: All major conferences do not play championship games. (only Big 12, and SEC do this)
- This is an "unfair" aspect of the selection process. Big XII and SEC teams "have" to play an "extra" game all while the other teams in the mix rely on their regular season schedule. (sometimes the have "split" conference champions)
-Pucker Factor: Extra game can work in team's favor for an "extra big win".
-Double Pucker Factor: Teams get no "extra credit" for beating a team twice. Once in the regular season, and then again in the championship game. No matter what their rank.
Point of information #2: Late season losses count more than early season losses.
I'll be the first one to say that OU got their heads handed to them, and their asses must feel like the new guy in prison, but this loss, no matter how bad it was - DOESN'T ERASE THEIR REGULAR SEASON ACCOMPLISHMENTS! Just because this team loses late in the season doesn't mean that they're washed up, or on a bad roll, or that they'll be worked in the next game, or that they're not the best team in the country. I'm not saying that they are the best in the land, but they definitely deserve a THOUGHT for playing in the National Championship game. The same goes for USC and LSU though.
In the long run, all of this shit that K-state caused is good for us getting a TRUE NATIONAL CHAMPION.
