Bet NBA Futures and Preseason now at betED.com

The 2008-09 National Basketball Association season is fast approaching and betED.com has Future Betting available for the NBA Championship, as wells as odds for preseason action until the regular season begins Oct. 28.

The Los Angeles Lakers are slight +325 favorites to capture the NBA championship in NBA Betting Odds at betED.com. The defending champion Boston Celtics, who beat the Lakers 4-2 in the NBA Finals, are right behind at +355.

New Orleans Hornets (+850), San Antonio Spurs (+900) and Houston Rockets (+975) round out the top five picks at betED.com.

Last season?s final between the storied rivals, their first meeting for the NBA Championship since 1987, was won largely on the strength of Boston?s defense ? and lost on the deficiencies of LA?s D.

This season, Los Angeles will have center Andrew Bynum back after he missed the second-half of the season and playoffs with a dislocated kneecap.

The 7-foot, 285-pound Bynum is healthy after rehabbing through the summer. At 20-years old, Bynum averaged 13.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in the 35 games he played in 2007-08, and was streaking just before his injury, averaging 17.3 points and 12.2 boards in six games.

NBA MVP Kobe Bryant acknowledged Bynum?s absence hurt the Lakers, saying after the series loss that Bynum?s ?rebounding and a shot-blocking in the middle? would have helped against Boston?s Big Three.

The Celtics won 66 games last season and will be trying to become the first repeat NBA champion since the 2002 Lakers. Many pundits, however, believe Boston had a perfect confluence of components last season that will be difficult to duplicate in 2008-09.

The Celtics remain largely in tact, but they did lose James Posey, their most important bench player, to free agency. The Celtics picked up Darius Miles, who hasn't played since 2006.

Basketball bettors don?t need to wait for the opening of the regular season, as betED.com has NBA Preseason odds available right now.

On Thursday, the Celtics visit the New Jersey Nets (7:30 pm ET, YESHD).
