Bolt set the current men's world record of 9.72 at the Icahn Stadium in New York on May 31 at the Reebok Grand Prix. The current men?s 100-metre Olympic record is held by Canada's Donovan Bailey, who sprinted to gold in a then-world-record time of 9.84 seconds at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
In order, Bolt, Powell and Gay hold the world's top three times ever run: 9.72, 9.74 and 9.77, respectively.
