This Saturday looks to be "filly" filled, with a slew of Grade 1 Stakes races on both of the Nation's coasts. We first go to the West Coast at Del Mar, where the $400,000 Del Mar Oaks looks to start off a big weekend of Stakes racing at the California beauty.
The favorite for this race is still led by Attima, the winner of the Honeymoon Breeders' Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park, and the San Clemente Handicap last month. Another good horse to look at in this race is Foxysox, who placed second in the same Honeymoon Handicap most recently. Other probable starters are Arravale, Charming n Lovable, Sol Mi Fa, Soothsay, and Take the Ribbon
From here we move onto the East Coast at Saratoga Park, for the $600,000 Alabama Stakes. Touted as the marquee race for 3-year-old fillies, the Alabama should prove to also be a wonderful race. Coaching Club American Oaks winners Wonder Lady Anne L is looking to be the favorite in this race, barring any continuing health issues. The Alabama field is expected to also include Lemons Forever, Pine Island, Pyramid Love, Teammate, and Unbridled Belle. Miss Shop is also possible.
Bet on the Alabama Stakes! The stage is set for the $600,000, 1 1/4-mile Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, August 19. Wild Fit headlines a pack of Grade 1 fillies who will kick up dirt and dust for 10 furlongs. Saddle up today at the Bodog Racebook - your source for all horseracing lines!
