Bet the MLS playoffs at betED.com
Major League Soccer?s conference championships are about to get underway and betED.com is offering odds on which teams will advance to the MLS Cup on Nov. 18 in Washington, D.C.
After a two-leg first round, four teams remain in the hunt as MLS switches to single games for the conference finals. The Chicago Fire face the New England Revolution Thursday night for the Eastern Conference championship, and the Kansas City Wizards clash with the Houston Dynamo Saturday for the Western Conference title.
betED.com has New England as a ?-point favorite over Chicago, and Houston favored by ?-point over Kansas City. The over/under in both games is 2?.
In the regular season, Chicago was 10-10-10 and New England was 14-8-8. Chicago edged David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy for a playoff spot, beating the Galaxy head-to-head in the final game. New England clinched the second seed earlier in the season.
Head-to-head, Chicago was 2-1 SU in three games against New England, but New England has eliminated Chicago from the MLS playoffs in two straight years ? 1-0 in the 2005 conference final and on penalty kicks in the 2006 first round. The teams have met five times in the postseason, with New England advancing three times.
In the first round, Chicago won the first leg 1-0 and extended its series lead to 3-0 before withstanding a D.C. United rally for 3-2 final. New England tied the first leg 0-0 and won second 1-0 on Taylor Twellman goal against New York, which was shorthanded due to injury.
In the Western Conference, Houston was 15-8-7 and Kansas City was 11-12-7. Houston failed to secure the West's top seed from Chivas USA but ends up as host for the Western championship because Chivas lost to Kansas City, which made the playoffs as the last wild-card team.
In their two-game regular-season season series, Houston had one win and one tie.
In the first round, Houston fell behind 2-0 in total goals during the second leg at home but got by Dallas with two regulation and two overtime goals. Kansas City got a first-half goal at home and shut out injury-depleted Chivas USA for 180 minutes.
