Bet the NCAA Hoops Champion at betED.com
Oct. 23, 2007

The College Basketball season is upon us and betED.com is offering odds on who will win the 2007-08 NCAA Men?s Championship.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are the overwhelming favorite to come out on top of the Final Four at the NCAA Tournament, at +500, followed by the UCLA Bruins at +675.

Bet on the winner of the 2007-08 Men?s Basketball Championship at betED.com, which has odds for more than 50 of the nation?s top College Basketball teams.

The Tar Heels were knocked out of the NCAA Elite Eight last spring by the Georgetown Hoyas, who beat the favored Tar Heels 96-84 in the East Regional Final.

North Carolina returns three key players from that team, as forward Tyler Hansborough, guard Ty Lawson and Will Graves are all back for Head Coach Roy Williams' team. On top of that, Williams recruited some top high school talent during the off-season to bolster the roster.

But even with that firepower and experience, it?s the UCLA Bruins who are ranked at the top of most preseason polls. Months after their Final Four loss to the Florida Gators, the Bruins have made it clear they are gunning for a NCAA Championship this season.

But Head Coach Ben Howland, who recently signed a contract extension through the 2013-2014 season, said his team has to stay healthy, and the Bruins are already having some injury problems. Sophomore James Keefe, junior Michael Roll and senior Lorenzo Mata-Real are all in the process of recovering from a variety of injuries.

North Carolina may face some stiff competition in the ACC Conference from the Duke Blue Devils, who are +1500 to win the NCAA title.

The Blue Devils have point guard Greg Paulus, now a junior, and senior guard DeMarcus Nelson returning.

Another top pick is the Memphis Tigers, which has made it to consecutive Elite Eights, at +900.

The Tigers have all but one player returning from a team that went 33?4 last season and fell just short of the Final Four.
